Sergeant Heavy with Nano-Fiber Vest in full cover versus a Thin Man in half cover. Thin Man hits the Heavy on the first shot, killing him instantly with a critical hit. Rest of the team falls shortly after that, resulting in a TPK.

Fuck you, RNG. I finally get a good start in on Classic Ironman, and you screw me over with a single fucking shot.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Never suffer the thin man to live.  Seriously, they have a poison ability that never misses, really high aim, and a gun that buffs their to-hit chance and critical chance.  Rocket those assholes if that's what it takes to kill them in one turn.

You misspelled seance.  Are possessing Draignean?  Are you actually a ghost in the shell? You have to tell us if you are, that's the rule

The aforementioned Heavy fired at it twice (using Bullet Swarm) with a 55% chance to hit, missing both times.

Returning to the thread at hand, I have failed three consecutive chances to stun an alien for story purposes, twice at 70%, and another time at 90%. Not technically a death scenario, since no one died because of this, but, fuck, what did I ever do to the RNG to deserve this.

At 55% I wouldn't take the chance unless there was no other choice and I had no rockets or grenades. rather reposition him to get covering fire from squadmates or hunker down or something. rockets (usually) are a more reliable source of damage than 55% chance to hit shots. Heck, if the heavy had an average accuracy of 55 he's about as useful as a bullet sponge up against classic ironman aliens. I wouldn't take him on a mission unless all the other better shooters were dead.

After trying to play through Classic Ironman myself multiple times, I'd recommend you to always have high(er) ground when possible. It's such a help--it gives better chance to shoot, decreases alien accuracy, lots of good stuff. Just seize high ground and wait for the alien pricks to come to you and pick 'em off.

After my kerbin rover wasn't moving fast enough to really do it's job of exploring kerbin I decided that strapping a rocket to it would be the best way to improve it's capabilities.

As a fan of the Road Runner I really should have known better.

I was working as a miner, peacefully digging on the mining asteroid. My mining partners and I even got some good stuff done.

This peace lasted for about 5 minutes before the station was nuked by the Syndicates.

I was able to make it against Solidus for 17.5 seconds using my thumb, 19 seconds flat tapping the button with a pencil and 20.5 seconds using my index finger, starting the timer at the end of Solidus' "I'll squeeze the answers..." line. My right arm is exhausted. Metal Gear Solid torture sequences should be an Olympic event.

MGS2.

EDIT:

I just now beat it using my index finger. According to my timer, the sequence lasts about 30 seconds on Hard mode from when Solidus lifts you up to when he stops choking you. I wasn't looking at the screen when I was doing the sequence, but when I looked up I found that my life bar was on the very last one-pixel-wide sliver that you have right before your health runs out for real. :o

Not a death, but I had to reset the entire console since I accidentally broke my self-induced pacifist run while trying to hold up a guard for dog tags.

MGS2, natch.

Disarmed a SWAT officer, then Faith decided it'd be a good idea to drop his huge machine gun on the ground rather than use it on him.

The plot of Mirror's Edge would be a lot more simpler if Faith used guns.

She says it herself though, what she's good at is running, not shooting.

Except when you do start shooting she turns out to be pretty damned good at it.

Yeah, what I noticed is that she doesn't suffer from severe recoil, plus she's proficient with a number of different weps.

Ten minutes.

Five patients with little razor fish in their guts.

One doctor with a one-shot bullet time power and an unsteady suturing hand.

Hardest difficulty, no reloading. Council mission, Bomb disposal. Rushing. Thinmen. Thinmen everywhere. Soldiers dead. Soldiers panic. More Soldiers dead. More Panic. More death. Everyone's dead. The end.

Every dwarf, every dwarven man, women, and child, that comes to our forts will die there; it's truly sad when you think about it. And we ask our selves, why? Why do we push forward, knowing this fate, that we are destined for failure? Because, this game grasps the concept of mortality. Some games you can never lose, but we all stop eventually, causing a 'death' to those game's 'worlds'. Dwarf Fortress gives us a definite end, knowing that we will leave that world eventually, and move on to more.
