I'm at Vamp now. The first time I died against him was not because of his knives, but because I accidentally dodged into the water, a la Dwarf Fortress.

After that, it was revealed that he can kill me in two hits, which is excellent.

MGS2. His melee attacks seem to become virtually undodgable once he starts doing them more quickly, so I don't feel so bad when I rely on hanging mode to avoid them.

Up next is the FPS killer called Blighttown. Good luck, and pack plenty of Purple Moss/Blooming Purple Moss!

I took 15 Purple Moss Clumps and 6 Blooming Purple Moss Clumps. I'm at the bonfire just before Quelaag, and I've run out of both.
I've got poison resistance from the Gargoyle Tail Axe i've been using all through Blighttown though.

That's some hard luck. If nothing else, you could just try to 'tough out' the poison. I think the effect lasts for three minutes total; if you keep yourself in good health and don't make too many mistakes it's not that big of an issue. If you don't mind retreating by going up the elevator (it's that big wheel above you; there are platforms you can ride up and down if you're unfamiliar with what I'm talking about) you could always run back to the Undead Parish and kill the grassmen in the Darkroot Basin to grind moss.

Also not to spoil too much, but after you beat Quelaag and ring the bell behind her, there's an illusory wall the floor down from the bell that leads to a bonfire. You'll want to rest at it once for later unless you LIKE going through the swamps.

Two things that help massively:

* The Rusted Iron Ring. Allows you to move at full-speed in water, meaning you spend less time getting poisoned. It's hidden in a very early area, if you can pull off some sneaky platforming.
* A poison resist set. The Pyromancer gear has good poison resistance, and you can find a full set somewhere in lower Blighttown.


On-topic: attacked an enemy fortress with a massive army of myth units. Didn't notice that the enemy had a Son of Osiris behind a top-tier gate, and my army was chain-lightning'ed to death.

Seriously, campaign? Lore-wise, you hate Osiris. In gameplay, you inherit his power and use it to fry my forces.

Had my first terror mission of a playthrough at exactly the wrong time, when most of my good soldiers were in med-bay. The Chryssalids decided to be really awkward, popping up next to a sniper instead of literally everyone else. One went straight for the sniper, the other went on a rampage among the civilians somewhere or another. As everyone was unarmored, much of my squad was one-shotted, and a surprise Chryssalid hatchling got my second-to-last soldier. Fortunately, I managed to get my last soldier (one of my better ones, IIRC) out of there. Unfortunately, Brazil is now a swirling vortex of death and chryssalids.

Damn telekinetic, one eyed dragon. Cutting his tail off is hard, killing him would be so, so much easier. I'm in my...7th death against him I think.

Fighting him with only 10pcs. of +3 Estus and some Humanities. That darn sword better be worth it.

Started a fresh out of character creation dwarf fighter. Picked up a great spear in the starting room, strolled into another room and killed a grey mold and a white worm mass. Picked up a long sword. Snuck into the next room and tried killing a sleeping giant bat with my new long sword. On the first floor. With no armor. And literally minutes out of character creation.

I don't think I even hit the bat once.

My mistake, Sire.  :v  Some of those random mapscripts have some interesting results.  Like deforesting an ai settlement and giving it the power to crush you.  Also noting that William 2.0 will declare on you for being too close and has a huge buildprob.

Killed by attrition as an orc scout ran around shouting for help and woke up a wolf pack and some orc soldiers. Finished off by an orc while I tried to scare them away with a song of Elbereth. Apparently a wounded dwarf clad in boots and filthy rags who's barely clinging to life and singing a song about a Queen of Stars isn't all that intimidating to the servants of Morgoth.
