Turkey in gravy is delicious. As are turkey sandwiches for weeks afterwards.

Ham is better.

I had Chinese takeout for dinner last night.  :P

Are we almost ready to start up rounds again?

I think so, I'm just trying to understand what I'm supposed to be doing now if I want to come back to life.

Great... Now I need to figure out where to squeeze my underground brewery.
No decent dwarf would brew in the open air if they could help it, and Udil is no exception.

EDIT: Walls of earth!

I swear, Imageshack hates me.
But yeah. Walls. Of dirt. In brown. Quick defense idea I had.
Of course, by the time we need it, we could probably have a palisade up anyways....
Nonetheless, tada. In brown.
The area outlined in black is an arbitrary trading area/gatehouse (despite the lack of gates).

Twi, use .png formats as .jpgs get blurred about.

And I can see that working for just a hasty defense, but if we're going to just have a hasty defense, why don't we just fortify the two small squares at the true entrance to our fortress? We simply don't have the resources to set up an awesome defense at this time. As well, we'll need nearly all of our dwarfpower focused on getting food right now.

I'll probably get started on a stone wall after the underground farm is ready.

Until then, I don't think we need a wall.

@Pic: I'll make note. However, I was referring to it always seeming so small...
That would be the "even hastier" version.
The idea is simply to squeeze any sudden ambushes through a chokepoint.
Right now, there's NOTHING inside the fortress proper. Once we move inside, fortifying the fort is a far better idea.
Eh. It probably won't happen.
*still needs to figure out where to put brewery that won't interfere with anything else*
Wait....
Ahah!
Idea.
1.Put a tunnel, two or three spaces long, with a door, directly across from Samthere's little hole.
2.Stairway down.
3.Place brewery/ bedroom/study/dining room/ place where I can live.
4.???
5.Profit!

EDIT: Since when was ??? a smiley?

*shrug*  eventually we'll need pictures of the Z-levels above and below, but for now, I guess this works.  We all need to be working on getting food supply up though, even those unskilled at such things.

Make it in the real Dwarf Fortress and use some visualizer to look at it.
No, really! I think that might be a good idea, if someone can make it so. Making it so could be difficult, but hey.
Just put the real fort and the display one a good distance from each other.
<_>
Alternatively, make multiple maps.

I think we'll have to settle for multiple paint maps, trying to actually find an embark with all the features this map has would be pretty near impossible.

Eh...
This map seems relatively simple. With enough luck, you could find something that looks a bit like it, and fix it the rest of the way.
I was thinking just build the area of terrain you need to look at.
Of course, there IS  a forest...

Yeah, you'd also need a cliff with a river going down it creating a waterfall and an island in the middle of the river.

Redirect the river, of course! :D
Arguably, the waterfall could be made artificially. With river and cliff. After all, if you can't do it, fake it.
Of course, then there's water pressure...
Sounds like a fun megaproject... Very fun indeed.

I'm sure it'd be impractical, but I'd feel safer if our walls were several squares thick and extended down to bedrock.

Also, I forgot about dealing with this:

"Uh... So I might have found a way to bring Norrec back... all it would take is blood sacrifices from whoever's willing to participate..."
