I was thinking that wasn't too bad

Then realised I was thinking from the perspective of Latin.

Well Spanish is relatively similar to Latin, isn't it? Like Italian and Romanian and the other romance languages.

Romance languages?
Are you only alowed to do romance in them?   :D
I just checked and it is a valid term. But I will still say "romanic languages".

Never heard of the latter term being used in English.

It's apparently used sometimes, going by google. "Romance language" is far and away the more common term for latin descended languages, though, to the point I had to turn to google to figure out if romanic wasn't just a misspelling. It's not, but most english speakers I've met that would even be aware there's a term for the stuff probably wouldn't recognize it, or respond in any way other than something along the lines of, "Oh, you mean romance language?"

"Romanic" seems logical to me.
Seeing as the other are
"slavic", "germanic", "celtic", "finno-ugric"

The main wrench in my machine of Spanish speaking is that I cannot for the life of me remember how to bend verbs in anything but the present tempus.

A ayer, I go to la biblioteca

The native spanish speakers on this forum can probably confirm whether or not this is a good idea, but I use the present perfect to get around stuff when I stumble on the past tenses in conversation. Haber + the verb with -ado (a) or ido (e, i) attached. Some irregulars like hecho, and visto tho.

Did you all catch that American lady (who lives in the UK) who teaches people how to make proper English tea?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRz5A816hpc

She also doe this traditional English beans on toast:

Oh and British scrambled eggs

Seriously, cancel the food chemistry thread because these techniques make it all redundant.

My litmus test for tea and coffee: if you can't drink it without adding milk and sugar, it's probably poor quality material, poorly prepared, possibly both.

IMO tea in the UK and Ireland is brewed terribly. Coffee is not much better and Bewley's in particular is kind of awful.  My advice is to get a nespresso if you want to drink good coffee without too much hassle

I will fight you Chairman. Though tbf I don't drink coffee, just loads of tea.

Correct tea method: Boil KETTLE, place teabag in mug, pour in boiling water, use spoon to squeeze every drop of teaygoodness from that sucker, remove tea bag, add a (carefully controlled) splash of milk.

Never understood milk in tea. Has never tasted good to me.

I know proper prep methods and use. Even have tea ball for loose leaf tea.  Milk never tastes good in tea.

I don't see what would be the point of drinking good quality coffee without cream and sugar. That stuff's what we're there for, dammit.

100% agree. My father and I disagreed on this point. Bloody Brit.
