In other wtf news, my housemates' cat seems to have decided to make a habit of pissing in my room. The door doesn't close properly, so I generally wedge it closed with some folded cardboard, but the stupid cat's learned how to shove it open.

This morning she pissed on my work shirt. And I didn't realise until I was about to leave for work. Ugh. Had to wear something else.

I really need to fix my door, or get the handle/latch replaced...

Is that the same one who decided to piss on your bed after a surgery?

Cats hate the scent of oranges and other citrus.  Use this to your advantage.

Get something like this...  and arm it with orange scented filth.

Place it just behind the door, so that when the cat opens it, it will trigger it, and it will blast the cat.

Killing your housemates animals is not the sensible options.

Unless you make them a nice bowl that menaces with spikes of cat bone.

Is this cat one of the ones with the genetic hatred of citrus? If so, fill your room with citrus incense squeeze lemon into your cardboard jam.

I suppose I could look for a motion activated squirt gun instead, but that's getting awfully specific.

Ok--- If spraying the cat with fabulous orange fragrance is just not your thing, then you can get this super expensive thing instead. Basically a motion activated compressed air duster instead. Odorless. (Not nearly as much fun.)

But jeez, that's rough.  I like the citrus-scenting idea, but I wonder if there's a problem with the cat's litter?  Mine only ever peed on stuff twice, and it was really our fault for not cleaning her box.

I can tell you that 100% of times cats pee on someones stuff comes down to one of three things 1.Litter box needs to be cleaned 2. Medical Issue 3. Behavior issue. I can tell you this because cats do not feel hate, so I would reccomend 1. Checking it's box, and if that fails (have your friend) take it to the vet

Oh, cats can indeed feel malice-- the question is, why would this cat decide that Yoink is deserving of such contempt? (unless of course, this is a Siamese cat, in which case, contempt is the default emotion it would feel for anyone other than *its* person.)

seconded on checking the litter box, and if that is clean, suggest housemate take cat to vet for checkup to rule out urinary infection. (experimental/inappropriate urination is a common symptom of UTI in cats.) If both of those are negative, then aversion training is the chore of the day. Motion activated stink sprayer will do wonders.
