Well, as a weak defense, we could say that given the director, producers and more or less all major actor (except Takeshi KItano, ALL HAIL) are non-asian, this doesn't feel as bad as casting non-asian actor in an asian movie and in asian role to boot... But yeah, this just feels weak.

Well, Kusanagi has a full body replacement. Maybe in this universe, she ended up with a Caucasian body? (last desperate attempt to be hopeful for this movie to be any good at all)

Nah, I was thinking more along the lines "given more or less everyone is non-asian this makes it a non-asian movie despite it's source material".

Not saying that's not stupid, but feels less bad to forcefully relocate the franchise to USA (I'm guessing that's where the movie will be based even though it's shot in NZ) in attempt to cater to local audience than shoving white actors in asian roles just because.

... though the failure of the movie would reach a new comical heights if the movie setting would actually be Tokio/Japan in general.

From everything I've read, kosher slaughtering practices are, like, pretty humane. Quick, and the animal is supposed to die immediately. You can look it up on wikipedia. (I've never read anything about halal slaughtering practices, but... I'm not inclined to just assume you're correct)

(And if you meant something else, "ritualistic practices" is too non-specific to look up)

Holy shit, my friend and I just started watching Rick and Morty and it is actually really good.
I'd heard so many people saying it was good that I assumed it was going to be absolutely terrible. I'm glad I deigned to watch it despite that!

Now, if only I could work out what Rick's voice reminds me of...

I've been meaning to watch more of this too.  But... wow.  Scarlett Johansson of all people?  I mean I guess they give her black hair, but, that almost just makes it more absurd.  Why go to all that trouble.  Do the people who want a GitS movie really need that kind of star power to watch the movie?

Seems like the typical tie-in problem: Most fans are going to see it no matter what, so logically they make it appeal to non-fans.  Which means a ludicrously out-of-place but traditionally appealing actress.

For real. I made myself go a little bit slower on it (though not by much...) and the only thing I can complain about is that there isn't more.
