Some developers put cheats in their game.   Some of them hide them and make you trawl the internets for them(or in the old days give you reason to buy gamer rags), some of them include them in a 'debug' console allowing them to be more than just cheats.  Say like spawning a dozen dragons in whiterun, so you can say "Yes, yes I have been to the cloud district.  And I am spawning a dragon on your head to eat you."

Some make it fairly obvious with a "It's here if you need it, but you don't have to use it"  Which is ok as well.  If baby needs cheats on a game that never originally had them, they can have cheats.  I don't care, but I'm still gunna call it baby mode.

Why the hell would a game company include cheats, and then make them so amazingly accessible that you can turn them on and off by accident during normal gameplay?  Were they afraid that FF9 would be too hard for modern gamers and that they needed the "I win the fight" button to be able to turned on with a single button press?   

I just had a boss fight ruined by accidentally turning on god mode during the boss fight and then not knowing how to turn it off.  Even afterwards after I learned how to turn it off.  I still turned it on by accident again later down the line.  I turned it back off before unpausing the game and it still filled everyone's trance and atb gauges even if it didn't grant invulnerability.

Seriously to turn on god mode in FF9 PC?  Pause the game and then hit L1 then unpause.  All you need to do.  And again, even if you turn it off immediately after, everyone is still super buffed by trance and sets free turns.  Something that can be done accidentally by just putting down or picking up a controller after pausing a game.

Why did they mess up an otherwise amazing port with this 'feature'?  Everything else is great!

Because they couldn't force a real=time Kingdom Hearts-style battle system into it. The current powers-that-be at SE seem to think that nobody actually likes turn-based or ATB row systems, and merely tolerated them because it was what we had at the time, and what RPG players really want is to run around mashing X like a madman. This despite the fact that Final Fantasy sales get worse and worse the farther they get from the classic style.

I kind of want to make a game/film/media review journal called Strategic Pessimists, which only report on the flaws of the media in question. Y'know, for people who are broke and need an excuse not to buy a really good game.

If you can't find any flaws in something, there's always these: 
"Does not make food for you when you forget to eat"
"Does not fix the cupholder in your computer that won't open anymore"
"Does not remind you to GO TO BED instead of staying up all night playing it"

Earthbound kinda does that last one!  Though I think it's just session length instead of time of day.  Dungeon Keeper 1 and 2 comment on midnight though, and I think DK2 will actually playfully berate you for playing too long into the AM.

I was really confuzzled by another Nintendo product today: I saw that Super Mario All-Stars got re-released for the Wii, originally for the Super Nintendo! ... But the new release only has 4 of the 5 games that the original did, it excluded Super Mario World... Why Nintendo, first SMW can only be purchased for the NEW 3DSXL, and now it's removed from the strictly inferior Rerelease of your vastly technologically superior console? I don't get it. How much data is even on that disc anyway with those four NES games on there, 2mb?

I understand you have something against me Mr. Miyamoto, but please, look, I'm sorry I killed so many Yoshi's and Koopas. It was wrong of me, I realize that, I was a child at the time. Allstars had super Mario world?  Forgive me if I'm mis-remembering since it was soooooo long ago, but I only remember it going up to Mario 3.  I had the origonal cartridge, and I recall only playing it for Mario 2 and lost levels.  Mario World is my favorite mario game by far.  I would think I'd be playing that on it if it had it.

EDIT: Ah I see, checking wikipedia the original did indeed NOT include world,  but there was a second version released a year later that did.

It was rereleased with all four NES Mario Games + Super Mario World, it was my childhood babysitter during my latchkey youth so I distinctly remember. So we have the SNES Cartridge that has five games, and a Wii Disc that has 4.
