I don't think Boh was banned for his general posting style or opinions. You don't last as long as he did if Toady finds your average posts ban-worthy. It was probably just a few incidents where he went too far.

Most recent drama was basically about how, since gender is purely sociological and thus worthless and should be eradicated and he's annoyed by people telling him what to do besides, he shouldn't have to call people by whatever gender they say they are, just by whatever parts they got. Ignored any claims that gender is not purely sociological. This is most certainly not the first time the argument has happened, so this is a repeat offense.

EDIT: Posting the nature of drama here in hopes that it's at least an explanation. I've tried to leave nothing to discuss, since continuing the discussion would probably be bad.

He was being obtuse on the single biggest hot-button issue in internet society. This is what is generally known as "trolling" or "flame-baiting", when it's intentional. When it's unintentional, it's still a problem because then you get actual arguments.
