Fury Road is the only movie in the last 5 years I haven't regretted going to the theater to see.

Just don't go in expecting some deep drama. It's great entertainment, but incredibly shallow.

That's one mistake I won't make.

I'm currently trying to work out how to tell the computers teacher I don't need to attend the SQL revision classes without coming off as arrogant. This is made more difficult by the fact that I only lost half a mark on the entire SQL section in the last exam, and that was for a dumb error (SQL strings are or aren't zero-indexed, I forget and forgot to check).

Or Fury Road. I don't know if I want to, though.
You want to. You want to, or so help me, I will find where you live and spray you right in the fucking face with a can of chrome paint.

WITNESS ME

So.....yeah. It's a good movie.

Yeah, but movies run for two to two and a half hours. I can finish a novel in that time.

That's literally the reason I don't watch movies.
Yes, but novels don't have the ability to pump adrenaline directly into your eyeballs.

That is a valid counterpoint. I have read some rip-roaring novels, but there is something visceral about a gratuitous action movie that they cannot replicate.

And Fury Road is gratuitous in the best way possible. And visceral, though surprisingly without a lot of viscera on-screen.

Besides, any movie that has a blind mutant guitarist wielding a doubleneck that spits fire, and then you find out that OMG THAT GUITAR IS REAL AND SO WAS THE PLAYING IT WHILE HURTLING THROUGH THE DESERT AT 70MPH deserves to be seen. For me, it's as much about geeking out over the practical effects as anything. When you see some insane configuration of battle wagon and then know that this thing actually existed and they actually drove it through a desert....

Your link appears to be broken, RedKing.

Okay, I could have sworn there was a link there...

Yeah for some weird reason when I italicized it, it stuck a URL tag on it too. *shrug*

EDIT: I decided to add some URLs afterwards.

WTF is The Martian even about? The ads are extremely vague.

Matt Damon gets stuck on Mars with hard science (that's a bit squishy in parts) but bad maths, as far as I can tell.

It's the third part of the trilogy that includes Saving Private Ryan and Interstellar; chronologically it's the second of the three. It's a multigenerational epic about repeatedly retrieving Matt Damon from hairy situations.

Hahaha what you don't know is the prequel trilogy is on the making of Saving...

Cavemen Ryan from angry mammoths. It ends with Tom Hanks throwing a pebble at one mammoth and seeing it die, then in shock, he realizes a bunch of members of the tribe stabbed it to death off camera.

Legionary Ryanulus, a Roman legionary stranded on Germany after the battle of Teutoburg. In this one he befriends a huge bear interpreted by Vin Diesel with a wig.

Crusader Rhyan, the history of how the third crusade started to rescue this dude stranded on holy land.

nah that would be a time travel movie where he's sent back in time and they have to get him back from the past.

And they have to send Matt Damon to rescue himself. Could be a Being John Malkovitch kind of romp.

Or perhaps a film somewhat like Face/Off (the greatest Nic Cage movie ever made), with the premise that Sean Bean and Matt Damon have been bodyswapped, forcing Matt Damon to rescue his own body before Sean Bean gets it killed.  :P

To act is to whore oneself.

No really.

According to the ancient Greeks, anyway, who viewed them as equal to prostitutes for similar reasons.
