I attempted to research stunning only to discover that, apparently, in the US cattle blood is fed to calves because its cheaper than milk.

It'll be heavily processed, the normal balance of chemicals in blood makes it both poor for nutrition and poisonous (way too much iron for the mass of food/drink for example). I doubt it will be recognizable as blood in any meaningful way.

Also, if the animal is stressed before dying, the meat becomes a lot tougher. It's in the best interests of everyone to slaughter humanely.

I would rather cattle farming as a whole was abolished, but that's unlikely to happen for a long time to come. So, like I say, progress.
At least they can suffer slightly less than they would otherwise.
