Right... this one is going to be long drawn out and...
WARNING CONTAINS FURRIES.
And for this reason i'll keep most of that in spoilers.
So some time ago a friend linked me a book and suggested that i read 3 specific chapters.
The story was supposedly "heartwarming" and used to be a part of a book published in 1995 so it couldn't be that bad right?
It was about Chakats...
Don't know what's a chakat?
Here's a spoiler with some basic info.
They are inteligent long lived hermaphroditic cat taurs with psi powers and every other trait you could give a mary sue.
Their only downsides are being larger than most and therefore requiring specialized cars, more food and of course more sleep.
Oh and they go bonkers if they don't have regular contact with their own kind.
Anyway introductions aside let's get down to the book (well the 3 chapters i read to be more exact).
I'll try keeping things short (those are 3 chapters after all)
1 - Goldfur (Literally the authors fursona self insert) meets a nice guy named Dale at the space station. As they wait in line for a teleporter they have a chat.
2 - Goldfur teleports safely but (Evil human) terroritsts sabotage the teleporter causing the nice guy Gold was talking mere moments ago stuck in limbo because his body data was blown away from the teleporters mainframe by explosives. As a last resort attempt shi (herm pronouns "shi" and "hir" are used when refering to chakats) manages to scrape up a backup of hir body and teleport the guy safely. However as a result he... became a copy of goldfur (and prompty fainted upon realizing what just happened).
3 - Some official talk later goldfur takes the transformed Dale to hir house (called a Den) on a rather sane assumption that chakats need other chakats to not go bonkers and its a good idea to keep the chakat Dale near chakats untill the researchers can find a way to safely replicate what Goldfur did with a partially exploded teleporter under high stress conditions.
And this is when things start spinning out of control and everything take a dive deeper and deeper into fetishism.
4 - Everyone mistaked Dale for Goldfur and while it's understandabe considering he is literally a carbon copy of Gold however...
Some characters are just more lecherous than others and quickly make Dale feel both embarassed and depressed with various actions and comments while Goldfur gives a minimal ammount of fucks about hir guest.
5 - Did i mention chakats are herms? So ovbiously htey lactate right? Well that happens leaving the poor transformed guy even more miserable.
6 - Did i mention chakats get into heat? Yanno like animals FOR SOME INEXPLAINABLE REASON. Well Goldfur realized it in advance but decided to protect "hir delicate psyche" and not tell the poor guy in advance (also goldfur and his sister/brother decide to use herm pronouns when refering to Dale showing 0 empathy towards his predicament).
7 - Poor guy leaves his room and encounters another chakat who is also in heat that day. Managed to retain enough of his senses to lock himself in his room and turn into a depressed mess. Meanwhile the other chakats just sit next to the door wondering what the hell was his problem.
Eventually they give him some herbs that don't do jack. And finally one of the more lecherous "denmates" show up. A native american wolftaur female with a massive case of goldfur envy (she is annoyed that goldfur already has a permanent partner) and sex happens because since Dale has the body of goldfur... he kinda was the next best thing for her. of course Dale does not know her at all and was objecting the entire time but she was rather insistant and chakat hormones eventually won.
8 - if you didn't notice point 7 ended up in RAPE and goldfur was happy because it shut up the "guest".
9 - Dales wife rejects him due to her massive phobia. Noone wants to try contacting her again and explaining that Dale won't stay like that forever and this is the last time we hear her being mentioned... ever)
10 - Various deviate things happens. Dale however slowly gets used to that crap and starts showing early symptoms of Stockholm syndrome.
11 - Falls in love with the wolftaur from point 7.
12 - Goes out with everyone from the Den/House (quite a lot of characters i decded to ignore to keep this list compact) for some lunch in town where he learns that humans are horrible racist bastards.
13 - Wolftaur lady tricks him into impregnating her (and because chakats are so amazing her offspring will be... a chakat. Because this is how genetics work).
14 - He renounces his humanity out of the blue and decides to become a full time chakat just as the scintists found a way to recreate him more or less the way he was. He (or rather Shi at this point) then goes with his beloved towards the sunset and ending the story.
My verdict?
Heartwarming my ass.
Most characters were clueless dopes (even chakats that are supposed to be good at understanding the emotions of others due to their psi talents.) Literally the only smart character was that wolftaur lady... and she just wanted a goldfur for herself and dale was just caught in the crosshairs of her obsession.
Loads of intercourse (not too graphic or descriptive but... why?!? That book was published dammit! And it feels like softcore furry 50 shades of gray... only made 20 years earlier)
And in case someone wanted to read it.
