Structures in memory are often.. hrm... Not efficient.  Lets put it that way.

As for software that can use it all up? My CAD software can, in a heart beat.

So true. I've got 8GB, and just my (somewhat bloated, I haven't trimmed for a while) background processes, AV software, and a couple tabs of Firefox eats up half of it.

I run out of my 8gb ram whenever I try doing renderings on my computer. 16gb was fine, till a memory stick died.

I also remember trying to install windows 2000 onto a computer and not being able to because the computer had less than the minimum 32mb ram requirements.

What I don't get is how can you even fill those 16 GB up. Like, for what would you even need 16 GB of RAM?

That's 8 times more RAM memory than Diablo 2 weights on disk!

A 4000-by-4000 image in an image manip program can take two gigs, and I often have something like that in the background.

WHAT HAS SCIENCE DONE?!
... a good idea? Chicken on pizza is already tasty, might as well make make it pizza on chicken. I'll admit, the thought of wrapping a pizza in fried chicken skin is highly appealing to me. Mostly because wrapping just about anything edible in fried chicken skin is highly appealing to me. Not actually that fond of fried chicken in itself (is usually too moist for my tastes in chicken, also bones fuck bones), but the skin is amazing ;_;

I'm amused they're wondering why KFC is outperforming pizza hut or taco bell, though. Hut's expensive as fuck (for the demographics they're aiming for, anyway), taco bell is basically memetic in its lack of quality. KFC's way too greasy, but it's still got something of a good name, mostly.

Doesn't look to me like confusion, more a passing comment for comparison.

Fully agree on the grease. I like the flavour, but I have to have it on a bun or it nauseates me.

The 128mb "standard" era never really existed.

You went straight from an era where 4mb was standard and 16mb+ was "big" in the very early 80s, when everyone was driving 486s running win3.11, common.

That should be "very early 90s" not "80s". In the 80s 64k RAM was a high standard, and 1mb+ was inconceivable until the very late 80s.

WHAT HAS SCIENCE DONE?!

As someone mentioned on that twitter thing at the bottom, that actually looks like a real dish already, chicken in red sauce with cheese. I think I had that last month at an Italian restaurant!

Although KFC chicken is, at least in my experience, pretty awful. So at least they'll corner the market on people who want fancy Italian food, but awful.

Anywho. We've a ghost in the office, it seems. So far, it's thrown a box out of a cubby, chucked a screw at me, and knocked my tablet from a table to the floor. We're located in a basement, so there's no room for things to shake or shudder enough to drop equipment, and the screw took its leap from the center of the room or so, based on trajectory. Now, I won't dither about the reality of ghosts, making my first quip a touch tongue-in-cheek, but y'know, things are moving on their own. Maybe something else hates tech support as much as we do. :U

Oooh. Spooky. A common "sign" of ghosts, aside from random shit getting flung around, is an unnaturally cold feeling in the room, or the feeling of being watched or not being alone.

I say "sign" because obvs ghosts and shit aren't exactly a proven scientific phenomenon.

Oh but of course they are. How else do you explain foggy photographs? And lights chasing across walls without a source? :P
