Like if I were to write a Harry Potter fanfiction where the mysterious wizard Graknorke shows up and turns out to have secret special magic powers that save everyone from Some Evil Thing and becomes universally loved. That's how self-insert fanfiction tends to go anyway.

Eh, fanfics have a tendency to focus really hard on minor characters, fabricating entire personalities and backstories out of thin air.
Not to say that there wouldn't be ones with Kirk/Spock makeouts (of course there are, it's like the original slashfic thing), but there's probably a surprising number about characters just about nobody gives a fraction of a fuck about.

I only accept kirk/spock fanfic that includes a love triangle with bones. How can you have bones out of the picture. Watching him and spock catfight over kirk is sexy as hell. Someone throw a bucket of water on them and have them wrestle it out.
