I'm sure this isn't a original thought in any way, but it just struck me. Why is a condom brand named after a city that is most famous in how it was successfully penetrated.

I'm not sure about the validity of the article, but negative temperature is a thing. It works only because it goes to the definition of "thermodynamic temperature", or a measure of the relationship between energy and entropy. In a normal "positive" system as you increase energy entropy goes up, thus resulting in a positive thermodynamic temperature. In a "negative" system this works in reverse, where adding energy to the system decreases the amount of entropy. This normally only happens in very limited or strange scenarios (such as temperatures over positive infinity or with other things affecting them, such as nuclear spins or a large portion of excited state atoms). The confusion comes from the weird way that we define temperature, not from any sort of actual contradiction in the laws of the universe.
