It's been like... Five years since it happened. You can go ahead and ask, I'm sort of deadened to responding to it.

Yes. I've come to terms with it, but the scarring takes longer to heal. Like I said, I'm physically incapable of becoming emotionally close to someone. Sounds weird, but I would probably literally walk away if I felt I was having a 'moment'. Because no, fuck that, not doing that again. It hurt. I had already been doing drugs at that point, fairly regularly, but that's when I went off the deep end. I think most people on here have heard enough about my drug use to know that I should be dead.

Using Akinator as a metric for the commonness of a character type, it appears that Cyrus the Restless of Elder Scrolls fame is the most popular black swashbuckler.

At least, the most popular black swashbuckler without cornrows, but I feel like that category is about as specific. Besides, Cyrus is a fucking badass, one of the biggest I've ever seen in fiction. He once threatened a god by assuming a certain stance. A god who likes to flaunt his spear and say things like "I am bathing in pico-filament moltings that come in six beautiful colors the Aurbis hasn’t even revealed yet", but a god nonetheless.

From my own experience as well, myself. Ill admit when someone doesn't have an avatar I tend to skip the post since Ill assume it's a spambot or a totally new person. So yeah I'd grab one. Even just a small one. I can't be the only one that sees that lack of an image as a reason to skip.

For me, it's not a fear or uncertainty or not wanting to approach someone thing. It's just not seeing anybody and having the want to approach them in that way. I mean, I'm asexual but I'm not aromantic. I would like to date and do the romance with a lady in the abstract sense, but there's no particular lady with which I particularly want to do romance at the moment. Which is nice.

I mean, if a nice lady approached me and was all like "Let's make cookies and then crawl under a blanket on the sofa, cuddle and watch episodes of Adventure Time!" I'd probably go along with that. Because that sounds like an awesome time to be had by all. But still, there's no-one I'm wanting particularly to do that with at the moment.

For me it varies. You're the guy with the Paint knight helmet avatar. Misko is Misko. Ultimuh and Slowpoke I recognize by both their avatars and their names.

I guess this is true for everyone though

Some people I recognize purely based on their typing style. Frumpster comes to mind.

Misko, I get you confused with one or two of the other (be-avatar'd) M-something blokes, until I look over and see your name. Like "My Name is Immaterial", I sometimes confuse you two. And others.

I'd say get an avatar. The only reason not to is to be a "speshul snowflake" by going against the crowd. Except technically it wouldn't be against the crowd, since based on pure numbers (though probably not in word-count), most registered forumites don't have avatars.
