The Daedric on the top of Morrowind's launcher says "DRES".

Dres? I was expecting something a bit more significant :P

The text on the cover are the names of the Great Houses of the Chimer/Dunmer. The ones which players could join were House Redoran (Law, military power, tradition, and the warrior code), House Telvanni (Ambition, trechery, magic, and research), and House Hlaluu (Diplomats, merchants, and opportunists).

The others from the lore were House Dres (Xenophobic, anti-Imperial Dark Elves, with ties to agriculture and the slave trade), House Indoril (Conservative Dark Elf Nationalists, closely connected with the Tribunal Temple, and the one Nerevar Indoril came from), and House Dagoth (The lost house, headed by god-king Voryn Dagoth, AKA Dagoth Ur, and destroyed for their betrayal long ago).

Yeah, I figured it out two posts later :P

I just saw Starship Troopers the movie.
Wow they're totally not idiots ruled by a fascist government.
The sequel is much better.
No it's not. The original is awesome, and there's a special place in hell for everyone who worked on any of the sequels.
The second one was amazing, ya looney! It felt way less cheesy than the first one. I actually managed to get somewhat attached to the characters.

Now, I've not seen the third one, but I have played the FPS game, which left a bad taste in my mouth compared to the game it was packaged with.

Yeah, besides the horrible implications of everything in the movie, Micheal Ironside made that movie badass.

I always thought the original was 100% obvious satire and was quite surprised when I found out it is not. Haven't seen the sequels I think.

It is satire. To non-US citizens, it was even a satire of the US in particular (in the US people like to believe it's about nazi's, not about them). Where did you learn it's not?

Lived my entire life in the U.S., and I saw far more in common with my own country in that movie that with what I know of Nazi Germany :P  I was also like 15 when I saw it.  I'd probably pick up on a lot more if I saw it again.

Yeah, I saw it as a satire on the US too. However many people fail to see that, perhaps because the novel wasn't satire, so it's on the index in Germany for being violent and militaristic and may not be sold to people under 18 or advertised for in any way. (I think it's on tv sometimes, but in a censored version).

Does it help if they yell when they talk to each other?

Ahh, summer.  Birds, Bikinis, and drunk people getting mugged outside my house after pathetically attempting to intimidate me out of this very phone.  Kinda serves him right, but I still felt bad for not helping.
Yes it truly is a wonderful season isn't it? Although i get birds, annoying gangstas outside all night, and it's too damn hot in here. Still could be worse though.

It's both really. The officer's uniforms are basically lifted straight out of Hitler's laundromat.

Starship Troopers? I took from it that it was saying that the humans there were no better then the foe they were fighting*, but from what I remember the movie is an in universe advertisement for joining the military.

Actually, US immigration reform makes the US more like starship troopers.

Illegal immigrants could only earn the right to citizenship through military service after the republicans changed the wording.

It has a pretty universal message. However when I saw it first (could have been around 2000, definitely before 9/11) I had a much less differentiated picture of the US than today. The movie seemed pretty much a parody of how I saw the US in media and fiction - a naive, crazy patriotic, militaristic society. The only thing that vaguely reminded me of Nazis were a few uniforms (of course my picture of Nazis was much more differentiated than my view of the US at that time).

I just saw Starship Troopers the movie.
Wow they're totally not idiots ruled by a fascist government.
What would give you that impression?
Apart from the numerous references to the Nazis, particularly in costumes, live executions, soldiers handing out guns and bullets to children, mandatory classes where the teacher tells you about how democracy failed and war veterans overthrew the government and created a society where you only get the right to vote if you serve in the military, the media under reporting the massive casualties they suffer, the war against the bugs being clearly an expansionistic thing, destroying one of their own cities with an asteroid to incite military fervor (because there is no way that the bugs, no matter how smart, could shoot an asteroid out of orbit in their own star system halfway across the galaxy with enough accuracy to hit Earth), child soldiers, trying to Zerg rush the Zerg equivalents, not much really.
I haven't read it in a while, okay?

Oh, I didn't mean the book. Sorry about that; didn't mean to seem aggressive. It was the movie I was talking about.
Also, the director and screenwriter have a time machine. I'm convinced. The movie came out in what, 1997? Look how accurately it portrays the whole 9/11 situation. It's scary.
