There was a drug bust at my school today.
People were selling weed at lunch.
Yeah.
It's not a big school where it's easy to hide, either.
Small school, less than 300 people, everyone knows eachother, etc.

People at my school.
If you knew my school, that would explain it all.

So here's something kinda weird, kinda funny.

Watching a YouTube video. I see a button to turn on "interactive transcripts", basically subtitles using some sort of fancy voice recognition. They're mostly pretty terrible and inaccurate:

Voice: "I'm fine!"
Transcript: "pipeline"

But then I saw this:

Voice: "Oh my God!"
Transcript: "Almighty Allah"

I know "Allah" is just the Arabic word for "God", but still. The two phrases don't sound remotely alike, and yet they have roughly the same literal meaning.

I love how wrong those are.

Its especially bad good on people that talk quickly, like raocow. The auto-transcripter lags behind and squashes some words together and ends up making even less more sense. :P

WTF of the day:
Followed a link from the Puerto Rico, 51st U.S. State thread, and learned that apparently, the Church of Satan has a trademark logo that cannot be legally reproduced without direct permission from the official Church of Satan itself in conjection with the Church of Satan's name.

I laughed a bit at the thought of stereotypical devil-worshipping fetus-eating heavy-metal-headbanging goat-lovers taking a break from their crazy activities and politely sending a carefully written request that some teenage punk somewhere stop spray painting their logo all over his school's walls, because he didn't ask permission from Satan first.

It's just silly.

The Church of Satan doesn't worship the devil; they're atheists.

...And yet that's not what their name implies.

It was a pretty funny assumption on my part then.

Twenty seconds with wikipedia says no:

Quote
The Church of Satan does not "worship" or believe in the devil, nor do they believe in gods. LaVeyan Satanism follows the belief that one self is their own "God". They do not believe in suppression of desire and human nature. "My real feeling is that anybody who believes in supernatural entities on some level is insane. Whether they believe in The Devil or God, they are abdicating reason," said Peter Gilmore. Gilmore defines the word Satan: "Satan is a model or a mode of behavior. Satan in Hebrew means 'adversary' or 'opposer'; one who questions.

Sounds to me like some guy with a grudge against the christian church named his own new one just to annoy them.

Sort of.
Quote from: The Satanic Bible
“On Saturday night I would see men lusting after half-naked girls dancing at the carnival, and
on Sunday morning when I was playing the organ for tent-show evangelists at the other end of the
carnival lot, I would see these same men sitting in the pews with their wives and children, asking
God to forgive them and purge them of carnal desires. And the next Saturday night they’d be back
at the carnival or some other place of indulgence.

“I knew then that the Christian Church thrives on hypocrisy, and that man’s carnal nature will
out!”
