Ok, either I'm losing my mind or someone is stealing my intelligence.

See, I decided to install a favorite game of mine on my laptop, mostly to see if it would work. I pull out the case and plug in the disc, and I am asked for a CD key. "No problem!" I think to myself, "It's on the back of the instruction manual, which should be right...here?"

The manual isn't where I left it. Que a ten minute search for it, with no luck. Finally I decide to give up, and get to bed. I reach for the case...and it's not where I left it either. Ten minutes later, and I have no idea where it got to.

Dammit Universe, I am way too young for Alzheimer's.

There's a reason Steam was invented. CD-Keys are sentient and consider themselves prisoners.

EDIT: To clarify, games I was forced to pirate after losing the damn keys:
Fallout 3 (later bought it again on Steam).
GTAIV (admittedly I gave up 4th into the download and just bought it again)
Age of Empires 3 (then Vista broke it anyway)
Some Sims 2 Expansion Packs

Please don't ban me Toady, I own all these games.

I own a bunch of Steam games that didn't have product keys :V

Which is kinda annoying if you want to back up your games by being able to download them with steam, but whaddya wanna do 'bout it.

It's funny how not one person saw this as trolling. I'm speechless; this is quite possibly one of the more ignorant things I have seen on the internet, but then again I do steer clear of most forums and message boards >.>

More like you are seeing a over representation of people who took it seriously. People who thought it was trolling only posted like one snide comment or not at all. People who did not realize it kept posting. But still it looks like most people knew it was trolling. Or at least did not take it seriously.
