Roll to Dodge: The Good Guys
« on: October 14, 2010, 10:52:56 pm »

This all takes place in a steampunk-type world, because having guns, crossbows, and steam-powered tanks at the same time is awesome.

So you and 5 other people have been sent by an unnamed ruler to defeat a mercenary guild called The Good Guys.
You are nowhere near as well equipped as the king's soldiers, but you will learn new skills and abilities, and acquire new shiny weapons to kill stuff with.

To make a character, fill out this form. *star means it doesn't really matter if you will it out or not. You don't need a super-long description for everything.

Name: Mal
Background: With an education on the streets, Mal has worked his way up from the bottom using only his cunning... and his pocket dart gun. A deft shot with his miniature weapon, he is also skilled in talking his way out of a tough situation. In combat, he prefers style over substance, often to his detriment in hand-to-hand combat. His silver tongue often gets him into trouble with the authorities, but the people of the streets love his style.
Appearance: Long, brown hair that is worn in thick, foppish curls. A pencil thin mustache dots his lips, and he is quite charming in his appearance. His clothing is dirty, but of a fine make, usually in a dark blue with patterns inlaid in gold thread.
Stats:
Crack Shot (+1 to dart gun shots)
Man of the people (+1 to reactions from common folk, -1 to reactions from authorities)
Cunning (+1 to schemes and plans)
Stylish (+1 to challenging combat actions, -1 when fighting hand to hand)
Abilities:
Call the people (A group of down-trodden peasants appears, willing to lay down their lives for Mal and his companions. While they carry only basic weapons, they will fight bravely. May only be used a maximum of once every other encounter.)
Weapons/Armor:
Pocket Dart Gun
Inventory:
Supply of darts

(5) You manage to struggle free of the guards and sprint to a safe distance before tossing a knife at one! (5 + 1 = 6) The throwing knife zips through the air, slitting a guard's throat! It then travels around the group of guards like a boomerang. It (5) Slits another throat, (Three 6's in a row!) decapitates three more (!), (4) slices open the last guard's arm, and (2) narrowly misses a random bystander. It then flies back into your hand. Holy crap.

Woa too fast.

By the way, as a rule, if a single ability grants +1 to strength and +1 to melee weapon use, it will not stack. However if 2 abilities provide it, the two abilities will stack. Just so we don't have people with +4 to melee at the start of the game.

Okay so here are the character sheets:

Umm no. Muskets are flintlock/barrel fed. You can't have a musket that chambers 5 rounds. Also what makes the shot piercing in your ability?
Also, how the heck are you more accurate from the hip than when aiming--with a MUSKET?

The Setting:
You have just exited through the gates of the city of [Let me think... cool Victorian name go!] Durham Lead. Ahead (North) is a desert. To the west is a large mountain range. To the east is a dense forest.
Post away.
