Okay, here is the first update, finally... Sorry for my bad english and the long wait (It's also only about two months, because I had a 4 four-day seminar to attend for my civil service...)
1st of Granite in the year 153
It was a day like all days, I was just mining through another wall, when uber pye walked up to me, and, with gleaming eyes and his voice booming forth, demanded that I shall be taking over this place as the new overseer. Surprised as I was, I asked him for the reason he gave me no answer, puzzling with two mechanisms he brought along. I discovered that he tried to build a lever-like structure, but he needed three tries, not what I expected, since he is quite the expert in mechanics. He then told me I shall never ever use this lever. Then why did he build it in the first place, anyway? He went on about not wanting to have to deal with problems on fort-scale anymore, and that he would rather like to go on building mysterious levers like the one he just made. I attempted to persuade him that I was lacking any skills in leadership, but he didn't listen and ran into the next tunnel, building other levers of potential doom. I normally wouldn't even touch the job, but I guess I have no other choice.

I ordered our entrance defences to be improved, including cage traps in case we need some goblin prisoners to stage arena fights or test out other trap designs. The new walls include the trade depot as well as our refuse stockpile, both on the east side. I am hoping to be able to build guard towers in case we have to deal with something bigger than a single goblin ambush.
13th of Granite in the year 153
I am still desperately trying to figure out the whereabouts and ways things are working here. I know the tunnel layout, nobrainer since I was the one digging it, but I'm totally confused about the workshop stuff. Also I ordered floodgates to be build, just in case we need any.
25th of Granite in the year 153
Since Kris was just hanging around at the barracks, I gave another dwarf the order to do her job. We need someone to lead our military into battle, of course, but we also need to know where stuff is, to search for lost stuff, and stuff...
2nd Slate 153
I found out about the use of one lever strewn about in the fortress... It was obviously not built by our chief mechanic, since it didn't bring any FUN when I pulled it and instead closed the inner doors between fortress entrance and barracks. I labeled it properly and continued on my routine through the fortress.

I was inspecting the booze stocks when it occured to me that our broker Oddom Erithunal who was drinking his month's portion of a barrel suddenly went towards me and loudly prompted me for a glass furnace. I directed him towards the old traditionally powered one next to the magma power pool. I couldn't even speak the last syllables of my sentence or ask why he needed a glass furnace, because he ran off that fast, I actually had the impression that he was possessed by some unknown forces.

After running around wildly and collecting various raw materials, Oddom locked up himself in the glass furnace and started working. I wonder when he'll get out there, but I'm pretty sure it won't be today. He has collected enough materials to work on for days, or even weeks. Precisely, that means he collected three raw glass gems, one yet unworked sunstone, a heap of alunite and a bar of pig iron. Now I'm pretty excited about the outcome of this.
While writing this down, it has come to my attention that I get far too wound up into simple fortress affairs as the one just now. Since I guess it's time to relax with some rock chipping, I've ordered myself to dig out some tunnels for new guardtowers. Actually, we are in desperate need of them.

Oddom has finally finished his awesome awesomeness, a green glass barrel named Thadtorish Zalstom Zamoth! Translated into the language of the gods this means Crowdcrown the Medicine of Venom, although I'm unsure what he intends to express with such a name. He decorated it with green glass and encircled it with a combination of green glass and pig iron. It's not exactly the nicest barrel because of all the hard and mean spikes made out of green glass (again) and sunstone, but it looks nice with the image of Alĺth Stopwheeled the dwarf. In this depiction, she is surrounded by some other dwarves crowning her as queen of The Red Boat. I'm stunned by his historical knowledge, because all this happened ages ago, in the year 1. Also, I guess he is quite some skill in making things worthy, this particular item is worth about 25000 dwarven coins, and that ability should have increased even more, one peasant just told me Oddom already has the status of a legend in glassmaking among these realms.

Some migrants have arrived from the mountainhomes. Our fort has now an additional mechanic, soap maker, gem cutter, ranger, animal caretaker, animal trainer, armorer, woodcrafter, surgeon, bowyer, two butchers, weaponsmith, craftsdwarf, brewer, siege engineer, blacksmith and two unskilled trainees. Not the best guys they could send to help us out...
