OOC: Kris, you sure got some action there...

Post:

16th Sandstone 153

The construction is coming along nicely. I have ordered the stones necessary for it to be hauled to the bassin, as there is enough free space now. Aban Chambercontain, our most talented engraver, processed a small stone tablet to print the current state into this log:

I'm quite excited about the ongoing project sin..." At this point, Lebowski's writer stopped writing, and Lebowski stopped dictating as well. They were stopped by a tremorous stomp somewhere on the surface above them. At the same moment, a fearsome screaming went through the fortress. Struck by a sudden vision, Lebowski could clearly see the southern fortress grounds and, rising up giantly between the small stone boulders, there stood Stasno Prairiecanyon, the lake titan. He was a huge hairy hadrosaurid with thin wings of stretched skin and it had a regal bearing. The lots and lots of yellow hair it had where very curly and from it's behaviour, it wasn't hard to guess that it's spittle was quite deadly. Out of boredoom it shot small birds out of the air and killed even some large land animals. Telling all these things to his writer, Lebowski got informed by him that Stasno was not exactly the most feared beast of them all, he had accounted only three kills so far. His only bonus was the ability to fly, although that didn't actually strike Lebowski out of his seat. "Birds can fly, and insects can, too. We are not fearing them, are we? So why should we fear that thing out there?" That having said, he gave Kris the command and wrote about the events ensueing later on.

17th Sandstone 153

Kris went to dispatch the beast together with the new recruit Doren, the speardwarf Fikod and lefty. Fikod happened to meet it first, although they tried to stay together. The beast simply ignored him, going on towards Kris who started butchering it when it was dealing with a stray dog which was running around outside the fort's walls. Lcuk sure was on her side, but she didn't expect the low quality and damage-dealing abilities of her iron sword, because it had been of good service at every single point in her soldier career. She punctured the titan at several points, tearing at the tissue, but couldn't deal any damage serious enough to stop it, not even shattering it's skull caught it's attention. Suddenly Doren, the recruit she recruited by herself, came to help her. Doren hacked unskilled but furiously at the titan's back while it tried to kick Kris in the rock wall behind her. It was looking worse for Kris, she had quite some bad wounds, one even on the lower spine, but the recruit went on hacking, scarring the thing more and more and tearing apart nearly every single scale at it's body, finally getting to the bones, then fracturing them. Doren later stated that she won more experience from this single fight than from all the training of her life afterwards, getting the title of a proper Axedwarf.

Finally, Fikod had taken note of where the battle was being held and joined it, deciding it with a final blow directed at the titan's brain, tearing it apart. The beast was still able to shoot a last portion of it's spittle right at Kris' shoulder, jamming through nearly everything it met and opening a pretty big artery. But Kris, being a woman proud of herself, dragged herself to hospital - regularly passing out - and stayed there, waiting for a doctor. Doren was from now on often called Frenzy, or Slayer, the job name Kris gave her in her squad.

May i join this game?)

Sure thing :)

And wow I got beaten up pretty bad... I lived though! Do we even have a medical team all set up yet? Also I just remembered that since we had a FB around... and now a Titan, let's hope neither had any bad diseases...

And is that Exceptional gear I spotted in the logs a bit? Quite nice there.

totally is. i have ordered steel gear to be made now, though.
funny thing is, your dorf jumped the bed two days after diagnose, with several breaks still, but oh well, it's only a flesh wound. we DO have a chief medical dwarf, but he seems not to be very competent. Also: no rotting flesh so far! One of them was deadly frozen spittle, one was webs. no poison or the likes, so our fort should be okay.

Good ol' Dwarven steel.
Well that's good, although keep an eye open anyway... you never know. Them FBs and Titans can be tricky...

UPDATE!!!

22nd Sandstone 153

The doctor got the diagnosing of patient Kris down. It seems she has taken nearly deadly wounds, but she will live to tell the tale of the lake titan.

13th Timber 153

Today, our mayor Stukos demanded there should be made three sterling silver items. I think I'm gonna ignore that for the time being.

14th Timber 153

Our comrades from the mountainhomes have finally arrived to trade! I can't wait to see what they have in their pockets to swap against some *really* nice green glass mugs... On another note, again a thief, this time a kobold, tried sneaking through a training squad, but he was lucky and caught them in heavy armor, so that he could get off without a single scratchie.

17th Timer 153

When asked about what trade goods we'd most appreciate, I stated that we could need wood, all sorts of it, as well as coke, pearlash, potash, charcoal and lye.

11th Moonstone 153

When Oddom finally had time to trade at the depot, the merchants were about to go. They still accepted to trade, and Oddom traded a lot of mugs and goblets for steel, gold, pig iron, leather and some buckets. It wasn't the cleverest trade I've ever seen: Be it Oddom's low skill in trading, or the merchants nearly leaving, but they did not want to trade until they had a profit of 450 dwarfen coins against the value of their own merchandise of 700 dwarfen coins. Greedy ol' bastards over there in the mountainhomes!

OOC: please note how in the profile page of Kris the incident is described as "sustained minor injuries..." :D

'Tis but a scratch! :P
I noticed that myself... seems my dorf is made of some tough stuff, or perhaps she's just a wee bit insane. Maybe both, all things considered...

wee bit insane only, I think... read that update

24th Moonstone 153

Construction of the bassin goes nicely onwards, although it could be a lot faster, if not everyone had so much need for sleep or drink or eat... It's totally annoying me, but what can I do? Probably I should restrict the booze or put something really loud near the bedrooms... Hey, I've got an idea!

10th Opal 153

The idea I had wasn't good enough, as it seems, because I was unable to find anything loud enough to wake up those lazy bastards in them bedrooms...
Anyway, I have ordered a well to be built in the hospital, so that the doctor has an easier job to clean the patients, especially during winter.

16th Opal 153

Appearantly, Kris was to easy minded about the wounds she had suffered.

Rest in Peace, Kris Wheeledunion. We will forever remember thy name.

I had our mayor appoint a new militia commander, Metime00 will from now on be taking over Kris' squad.

I'm going to be having loads of responsibility in the fortress now!

I might take a little while (read: quite a while) once it gets to my turn on account of the v 0.31.17 being out :D

I'm not sure, I hear of some issues from moving savefiles from .16 to .17

I don't think there are any dwarf mode advantages to .17

Is it my turn now?
