Metime00, our overseer has fallen. His reckless expedition into the magma sea unleashed hellfire and demons upon Swordviper. The demons destroyed the door between them and us, and the army sacrificed themselves to give a brave mason time to wall off this area from the rest of the fortress, he was trapped on the wrong side, however. The dwarves of Swordviper have decided to continue logging events into the overseer journal, and perhaps another will rise up to take the mantle. We will recover.

12th Felsite
The dwarves have walled off the staircase, the demons will not be able to destroy the rest of the fort. However, ten dwarves are still trapped down there as well as the entire military.

14th Felsite
We have a plan to take revenge on the demons, there is the volcano close to the tunnel where all the demons are. We can channel the magma down into there and flood the demons with lava. Perhaps we will even be able to flood their hellish home as well. Our friends and fellow dwarves will be avenged

15th Felsite
Construction of the walls to contain the magma flow has been started. Soon we will have our revenge by washing these demons back to Hell with magma!

16th Felsite
Attack! Attack! Goblins are sieging the fortress! The flooding machine has dried up and all our soldiers had died! Ten goblins, one riding a giant olm have breached the fortress! We hide and hope that the traps can repel them.

18th Felsite
We've lost our last axedwarf to the goblins, and the siege is approaching our gates! Goblins trample grass beneath them, kicking up sand behind. The leader cackles as he encourages his troops onward. The elf traders will provide some extra defence.

20th Felsite
To add insult to injury, Zasit, the trader who was in a secretive mood, has gone stark raving mad! He will cause everyone to panic even further! Only a miracle can save us now!

21st Felsite
The dwarves are pulling levers as fast as dwarvenly possible, hoping that one of them will help against the incoming wave of goblins.

22nd Felsite
The quick goblins have reached our gates and have started attacking stray dwarves. Most of us are safe inside, for now.

23rd Felsite
The dastardly foes wait outside, sending out goblins to take out stragglers.

24th Felsite
The reservoir has filled up again, and so it was let loose, and has been reset for when the goblins come closer. Nobody knows how it started filling again, but we are grateful.

25th Felsite
The raids have ceased. The goblins are biding time.

26th Felsite
Uber Pyre has ventured into the thick of the goblin horde! She is depressed and will soon meet her sad end.

27th Felsite
Uber Pyre has fallen! Truly there is nobody immune to death in Swordviper. A brave dwarf has reengaged the reservoir pump stack, and soon we will be able to fight back against the goblin horde! They move slow, and once they move under the reservoir we will be able to flood the bastards!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Even worse! On further inspection, the magma room that powered the magma smelters has been breached. Somehow, the magma has broken through the door and now it floods the main stairwell! We will have to do something.

28th Felsite
The brave masons have walled off the entire magma room, no doors to eventually fail. Now we have to wait for the magma that settled on the lower floors to dissipate before we can continue the magma flood operation.

5th Hematite
The goblins wait just outside the range of the ever filling reservoir. The cowards! The fools! This is the miracle we were wishing for, and the invaders will soon perish as fast as they attack. Perhaps we do not even need an army after all, simply more flooding reservoirs...

7th Hematite
Some volunteer migrants have started repopulating the military. They will begin training and soon they will be able to hold their own should the goblins make it past the reservoir.

10th Hematite
The reservoir is filled edge to edge with a thin layer of water. It will be full before the goblins pass under it.

20th Hematite
We lost a military dwarf and two civilians to stray goblins today.

21st Hematite
The only remaining veteran dwarf left was part of a scheme to lure the goblins under the reservoir when plans went south. He killed all his assailants however and rushes forward to destroy the rest. A true hero.

22nd Hematite
Litast Odatir Abanegesitnet Alath the axedwarf was struck down by overwhelming numbers. The goblins continue to wait outside. The dwarves have come to realize what they meant by "siege".

24th Hematite
The mechanics have decided to strengthen the western entrance with a line of weapon traps. We have no army using the weapons, so this seems like a fitting use.

1st Malachite
Somehow, a salt devil has appeared in the horde of goblins and has killed all of the military and the goblins. Strange.

3rd Malachite
The salt devil was killed and the goblins have run under the reservoir, only for the lever pulling to be too late to drown the goblins, and only wasting every drop in the reservoir.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Suffice to say, the reservoir was activated to late and was an utter failure.

6th Malachite
Demons were spotted swimming in the magma sea so they are immune to magma. The plan to flood them is a no go. We will have to just forget about our comrades. On the surface, the water is spreading. It spreads over the volcano and into the fort.

11th Malachite
Another adamantine vein has been spotted and we are digging around it to breach when we are prepared.

Curses! More demons have swum up through the volcano to wreak havoc on the fortress!

13th Malachite
A goblin passed under the reservoir and the levers were pulled. We were too late to catch him and soon the fortress will be flooded further by the water dropped into the aboveground farm. The goblins are almost wiped out, however.

Also, Zefon Menglurit the weaver has withdrawn from society, claiming the clothier's workshop. He will hopefully create something useful to make the populace happier.

16th Malachite
The demons on the surface are burning everything! The entire countryside is engulfed in flames! This is a disaster! Luckily the weapon traps are completed now and should defend the fort in case of a more organized assault.

18th Malachite
This crazed dwarf too requests materials we have. This is a terrible year for Swordviper.

19th Malachite
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
A strange one eyed beast terrorizes the living quarters.

The population stands at 50.

The remaining dwarves have decided to band together and vote on what to do. Some prevailing suggestions are to wall the fort off from the world until we are better prepared to deal with the threats and to mobilize against the enemies at all costs. We are trying to come to a definite conclusion.

OOC: what happens next, you decide! It makes sense considering that I am dead and also at a loss at how to deal with all the crap I unleashed.

uh, actually I suggest to search for a dwarf with no relations whatsoever and then wall him in with booze and food and happy stuff... At some point, he will probably be something like Will Smith in I Am Legend... :P

21st Malachite
The dwarves have come to a decision over the past few days. We will send one of our own, a surgeon whose name nobody can remember, into a bunker filled with food and alcohol to sustain himself in the event of a complete wipeout. The rest of the dwarves will mobilize into a militia force and drive back all invaders. Construction of the bunker is being interrupted by demons in the fort.

22nd Malachite
We are suffering casualties at the hands of the starling monster demons!

23rd Malachite
The demons' poison is paralyzing the workers! Soon everyone will be dead. Metime00 was the worst curse upon Swordviper to exist! With luck, those who follow us will be able to salvage what's left of this great fortress.

26th Malachite
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
A curious underground structure?!? More like another deathtrap! This zombie fortress sends waves of the undead against our already doomed fort. We are all doomed...

1st Galena
We welcome the new month with blood. The blood of our brothers. The blood of Swordviper.

4th Galena
There are but 15 of us left. Swordviper is all but fallen...

11th Galena
Lebowski, the legendary miner, was about to wall himself inside the bunker, when he was attacked by the demons. There is no escape from this.

12th Galena

someone could skill up an adventurer strong enough to kill them demons and then make some easy path for the reclaiming army, writing a nice story on his path. unfortunately, i have no time during weekend, but i might be able to do anything during next week. although i never actually tried to fight demons... but for the time being, this could be an adventurer succession:

- turn list goes on as before
- everyone tries to kill the demons, aiming to overpower the previous one in reclaiming the fort ALONE and walking in his/her footsteps
- sidequests to train on night creatures are allowed
- we will have to upgrade to .18 as i just noticed ;)

So here is the save. Just wait for Kris to say what she thinks we should do and then whatever.

I like the "clear the place out with an adventurer" idea. But upgrading versions wouldn't work well for that plan, I think.

If we plan to fight the unending hordes of clowns, we wouldn't want to upgrade - especially if you want to do it alone. Unless there's a town within a day's march, you'll have to worry about the bogeymen every single night that'll devour your poor adventurer.

Plus it's nigh impossible to be a one dorf army in the new adventure mode. Who's next in line?

Want to go for reclaim then? I'm unsure how feasible it might be considering the fortress might be flooded under water, or has magma everywhere... or the clowns just run about the countryside and kill the reclaim teams instantly.
