Speaking of Sid Meier's games, Sword of the Samurai. Going through the samurai hierarchy from simple samurai to shogun through warfare, assassination, incrimination and duels. I'm guessing this is another thing Sid considers his lesson of what not to do. Wonder if he feels the same about Alpha Centauri considering it never got continued in any form.

SMAC got a sequel CrownOfFire is right, it's an expansion, derp. Anyway, it was basically just Civ IN SPACE. If anything, its continuation is the return to mainstream Civ games.

Alpha Centauri does have an expansion that added some new stuff, including two new alien factions. I have Alpha Centauri, but not the expansion. One thing I loved from that game is the unit customization. The "ethics" system is pretty cool too.

My google search for Alpha Centauri 2 yielded nothing of the sort. But I did find that Meier would like to do a SMAC2. So that sort of answers my question of what he thinks about it.

And I am aware of the expansion pack, I just don't consider expansion packs quite the continuation I'm thinking of (especially since development of SMAX began shortly after SMAC itself was released). I have mixed feeling about it as well. As much as I'm happy to have more of the story to AC, the new human factions seem kinda stupid. Especially the hackers. Some idiot with a generic 1337-speak name talking about jazz. It feels like they ran out of ideas and just had to add more human factions.

A.D.O.M:Great story,Fun,MASSIVE and overall awesome.The only problem I have with it is sometimes you HAVE to grind or you will face serious amounts of Fun.

Man, Gothic 1 was AMAZING. So was Gothic 2. Series went downhill from there, though 3 was still decent...

As for best games I've ever played... hm, there have been a lot! I think I've become harder to please as I've gotten older. Roguelikes still keep me completely engrossed so I would have to say that they are probably the winners, with games like Dwarf Fortress and TOME coming out on top (mmmmTOME).

Certain games like Civilization I also never lose their charm. And Chrono Trigger. At least once every two years or so I tend to replay that game on emulator.

River City Ransom.  Me and my grandma would play this all the time and beat good studentship into a town of Crips, Bloods, and brainwashed zombies.  Fun times.

Tetris Attack was fun.

Obligatory JRPG spiel - Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy Tactics, Xenogears, Breath of Fire III and IV, Legend of Mana.  FF VI and VII should probably go here, too, but I didn't really VI, and I never even got off the first disk of VII.

Goldeneye, Paper Mario and it's Gamecube sequel.  Smash bros.

KOTOR, I and II.  The Way of the Samurai series, Samurai Western, and SkyGunner.  Dynasty Warriors 2.  GTA 3.  GTA:VC.  MGS3.
