I would rather have the blades and disks than most of the trash caravans bring.  Unless I was specifically requesting certain shipments for megaproject.

hehehehe ...

imagine if kobolds could disarm and dismantle your traps and steal those disks.

not only would it be challenging and hilarious, but the value of their haul would be so huge that you'd soon see massive kobold sieges full of gold diggers! it'd be a gold rush towards your fortress! .. and IMO the more kobolds steal from you, the more notoriety your fortress would gain in the kobold world - and more kobold civilizations make contact

The crossbow squad, 'The Bolts of Fleeing' wouldn't even show up.

The kobolds would be able to afford all steel armor, steel shields, steel daggers, golden homes, gold-paved roads, and adamantine clothing.

i had a fortress whose entire economy was based on masterpiece serrated steel discs.  over 40000 each.  quite insane.  it isn't often you can build a weapon trap worth nearly half a million.

Yes, my latest fort is churning these out now, each is worth around ~44K if I remember correctly.

I actually export cave spider silk cloth crafts. Or just cave spider silk bins. Masterwork silk cloth by itself is pretty valuable.

I save the weapon traps for an automated hunting system. I load up a bunch of masterwork steel discs in weapon traps around the caverns. Elk birds spawn on edge of map, wander around randomly, get sliced and diced by masterwork steel discs, then the butchers and tanners go to work. All done automatically.

The dwarfiest trap ever is the classic pressure plate+bridge+magma combo. Almost never fails. Until a dwarf is in the wrong place at the wrong time, which happens a lot.

Indeed.

I'm a fan of the army cannon myself, Max sized bridge facing out armed via pressure plate.

Do you remember the idea for dwarven drop squads? Basically dwarves don't take fall damage when they fall onto other creatures, so the idea was to set up some pressure plates that connected to hatches up above, that dropped your military down onto the invaders. That would be amazing to see. I'm not sure if it would work now, not even sure if falling onto another creature negates fall damage anymore. I'll have to experiment!

Edit: Okay, after experimentation, dwarves do not in fact take damage after falling onto other creatures, they only become stunned for a small amount. Dwarven drop squads, here I come! They still take a bit to fall though.

So this explains the mysterious rise in my fortress value. My standard trap design is 10x serrated steel disc.

Not a troll, not some basement-dwelling neckbeard, but indeed a hateful, rude little person. On the internet.
I'm actually quite nice IRL, but you people have to pay the price for that.

Now stop being distracted by the rudeness, quit your accusations of trollery, and start arguing like real men!
