We need boozepults. Think of the possibilities! Hell, we just need catapults that can launch any item, as long as it's not too heavy of course. But rocks are pretty damn heavy last time I checked.

I made a serrated disc out of adamantine once in hopes of turning an adventurer into a crazy dwarven ninja (a legendary ambusher and thrower wielding throwing stars as large as they are?  Hell yeah!), and the exceptional quality disc is worth 189k dwarfbucks.  That's worth more than 10 out of the 11 artifacts in the fort.

Q: What do you get when you take 100 clear glass windows, 1000 silver bars, 6700 gold bars, and 18,000 marble blocks?

A: A very large wall.

"Alright, here's Helltooth... Harborfence... Urist, come get GenericBlade... and you. Welcome to the Danger Room. First timers get good ol' Ballswallowed. Have fun and try not to take off your own toe."

This is why we need disc launchers. Even disk-shaped rocks can do a hell of a lot of damage. It's almost just a refitted ballista, right?

Would it be possible to mod this by making serrated disks have a tag that allows them to be launched by normal ballistas?

Cuz then I would be like Gordan Freeman, but instead of the gravity gun cutting people in half with thrown sawblades, it is my dwarves with ballistae.

Christ, are you dwarves or are you elves? If you think Hell has too many demons, then youkill them till the population reaches an acceptable number.
Dwarf Fortress: So horrifying the players would rather talk about nice things, like Warhammer 40k.

I save the weapon traps for an automated hunting system. I load up a bunch of masterwork steel discs in weapon traps around the caverns. Elk birds spawn on edge of map, wander around randomly, get sliced and diced by masterwork steel discs, then the butchers and tanners go to work. All done automatically.

One second thought, never, ever, ever do this!  D:

It has become a full time job, taking up all time for 100+ dwarves hauling elkbird, troll, and trog meat and fat to the food stockpiles from the butcher workshops.

So.
Much.
Meat.

So it would be great if the economy worked?

I think I'm going to pave the edges of my map with 10x serrated disc traps.

I'm producing about 1,000 units of meat, surplus, every month.

Thats around 12,000 units of meat per year.   :o

Which means farms can be used exclusively for boozin' it up.

Isn't wildlife supposed to replenish their numbers off-map now? I haven't been able to deplete the local wildlife in 31.XX yet.

But then, hunting has been broken. Would be interesting for SCIENCE! to try it out with 31.09. Embark on a 2x2 with a bunch of hunters with SPEED:0.

Or line every way onto the map with 10x serrated disc traps  ;D

This includes the caverns.

There's no real point for 10x in each trap. I'm building bottlenecks on the entrances to the caverns at the edge of the map with the help of my masons. And then those bottlenecks get two weapon traps with 5x steel discs in them.

Even that is overkill. The first trap shreds everything that enters. The second trap never gets used as is.

And for backup I have my military patrolling the cavern burrow, though all they do is run from one dismembered corpse to another since the steel discs do all the work for them.

Pretty much. But most regular, flesh and blood FB's don't even make it past the traps. If they do they're already bleeding heavily and usually unconscious, then my squad pokes at them some more until they die.

Wait a minute. Forgotten beasts aren't immune to traps?
