Got some decent play time in, but as with most early fortresses not much of great interest is really going on. Guess it's up to me to make it so
Also: Several migrant waves, including one that more than doubled my population, plenty of open requests.
Images will be forthcoming, I am taking screenies...
10 Hematite 1051We finally have a trade depot up! So if some bloody merchants EVENTUALLY decide to show up, we have somewhere to fob off our junk.
30 HematiteYes! My office is finally built! Peasant is complaining that if he gets a 10-foot cubicle I should too, but I quickly shut him up. I'M THE BOSS DAMNIT!
We also got a migrant wave, 3 fools crazy enough to come here voluntarily.
I especially think the woodcrafter and woodcutter are insane. Where do they expect to find wood IN A BLOODY DESERT?!
Anyway, for the records:
Lorbam Esmulonul - Woodcutter
Thikut Dallithilral - Woodcrafter
Meng Libasherash - Metalsmith (too bad he forgot to bring an anvil. Or fuel. )
Well, I'm sure we'll find a use for them.
21 Malachite (Trying a differnt style for a bit)
"Blade?"
"Yes, Peasant?" said Blade, trying to walk faster so that she wouldn't have to deal with whatever it was.
"People are beginning to complain about food stocks - they're running very low."
"Well, what am I supposed to do about it? I can't fish."
"But..."
"Tell you what." said Blade, stopping as an idea popped in to her head, "People have nothing to do, so they complain. Give them something to do and they'll be more positive."
Peasant stopped - it sort of made sense...
"As such, I'm commisioning a pair of statues for my office. Make sure that they're nice, nice and menacing. With Blue Garnets."
"Blue Garnet?"
"Yes, we dug some up a little while back, didn't we."
"But... yes ma'am. What about Ast though? he's got nothing to do with statues or jewelry."
A glint entered Blade's eyes.
"Send him to me, I'll... deal with him."
Blade walked on, satisfied. Behind her, Peasant stomped down the passage, muttering about cubicles.
16 Galena"Damnit, first we're out of booze and now the wel''s dry?" Blade threw up her hands in exasperation.
"Muffin, wasn't it you that dug this well?"
Muffin shrugged, "Doesn't mean it's my fault."
"Well it does mean YOU'RE the one dealing with it. I expect to get some water within the month!"
Muffin repeated her shrug, clicking her tongue "Whatever you say, boss."
"I'm going to go admire those new statues." Blade stepped out the doorway, not noticing the rude sign Flame Muffin made with her beard.
26 LimestoneWhy does nobody TELL me anything? Flame Muffin got bloody sick as a dog and nobody bothers to bring her water? AND WHY'S THE WELL STILL DRY?
Arrrg!
3 SandstoneMore bloody migrants! Our food problem is bad enough without MORE mouths to feed! Well they can bloody well make themselves useful. Maybe they can gather all those shrubs. Hopefully they're edible.
There's also another metalsmith. He says he can work steel like a living thing, but since we don't have any let's see if he can work living things like steel. He's our new chief medical officer.
The other two... I dunno. They can do something useful. I'll think of something.
Aban Alled - Thresher (Plant Gatherer)
Avuz Usansazir - Metalsmith (Chief medic)
Meng Sakzuletur - Soapmaker
Goden Ilraldakas - Clothier
Mosus Asteshidos - Thresher (Plant gatherer)
19 TimberA caravan! At last! I've told everyone to drag Silo's junk out to the depot, hopefully we can get some food for it.
Mebzuth Siknugcog is also here as our outpost liaison. Maybe I can wrangle something useful from him. If I lock the office Ast is going to be wondering what we're up to in there... hehehe... That boy's so much fun to tease.
(Bit more stuff left but I'll leave it for next post. Think I prefer the dialogue style, even if it is harder to write for. )
