UPlay is a stupid piece of shit.
Yup.
I like it. Or at least, the games I have it for (Driver: SF and Anno 2070).

From my understanding, pretty much all DRM including Steam is a PoS

Steam isn't even DRM m8.

...How is steam bad? It's a free service, can be turned off of any game quite easily, and isn't intrusive.

This isn't actually true I'm pretty sure. Steamworks is a DRM like any other. Although not all games on steam have it, and some games can have different levels of security.

It's true that steam itself isn't drm, it's just tied directly into a DRM named after it. Steam can sometimes mask it from people apparently, but steam doesn't equal no drm.

For games on steam that have the steamworks drm, it's about as restrictive as most drms. So weather you think that's bad or not bad I guess depends on your own person view of what is acceptable in drm. If you think all drms are shitty, then naturally you would think steam is shitty.

You have to be online once before you go (for as long as you like) on offline mode. You have to be online to download the games you own on steam. So really, it's not what you would call 'too restricting'.

And yes, you can turn off the overlay. And then go offline.

The end.

What does the overlay even do?
I mean, seriously, I can't figure out what it even adds apart from that tiny message box at the bottom right corner.

Shift+Tab. You can use the (AWFUL) browser, or use Steam's text chat.

Now have some fun.

How do I turn that off? It also happens to be a key binding for the map in KSP. I would just change the binding ingame, but it doesn't look like changing the key binding for that is an option.

The map is just "m" in KSP...

Also, right-click->properties->the only checkmark

Also, you can just launch KSP straight through the .exe without Steam, the steam release of KSP is 100% DRM free

I meant while IN the map, tab cycles through planets, shift tab goes the opposite direction.

I hear Canada's wildernesses are so nice that when people make a movie about the American wild west they have to trek up to Canada to get good enough scenery for shooting. True?

Actually I hear very little that's bad about Canada. Any Canadians have the dirt on the real skinny on the fabled land of the north?
That sounds false to me. If you want to make a movie about the American wild west, just go to Arizona.
It is false. There's an enormous amount of perfectly viable, available wilderness in the continental United States as well. Ghost towns in the southwest make great movie sets :P
Also, as I had understood, the forests in and around Olympia National Park, Washington, are a legitimate rainforest as well (dunno if you would want to call it the same forest as extends north into Canada.)

Of course, all movies set in any desert or alien world are filmed in southern Utah.

Steam is awesome as a distribution platform. Everything's there, in one place. DRM, however, is an Abomination Unto Nuggat Everyone.
