Fucking car problems again. Now a CV joint is going bad. The loud clunky noise it makes sounds bad, but means little as they can go for thousands of miles like that before failing apparently - hope and procrastination wins out against getting the work done it seems, espcially as changing them is a messy and fiddly job (even if the part is cheap).

If you're somewhat computer savvy, combofix is supposed to be very good for removing viruses.

Thing is, you do it wrong, it can apparently screw your computer over.
it has done it before, i done it once on a system, corrupted the whole shadow file system, had to reinstall it then :P.

ICE ransomware
1. download Emsisoft Emergency Kit http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/eek/
2. boot to safe mode command prompt
3. start only explorer.exe
4. go into msconfig and set everything to boot to microsoft services and no startups
5. check the start menu startup folder for anything else
6. reboot to safe mode with networking
7. run FULL scan
Doesn't always work. some particulary nasty ones hitch a ride on explorer.exe.
not the ICE ransomware though ;)

Headache all day. At one point, when I sat on the ground in order to clean something down there, I felt pretty close to passing out, with fatigue and lightheadedness, and a bit of nausea afterwards. The feelings did not immediately go away upon standing up, persisting for a few minutes. This is probably not a good thing. My head still hurts like it did this morning.

And got a proper night's sleep?
And didn't go out and get pissed the night before?
Sleep, yes. Depending on your definition of pissed, no.
Plenty of food/water, no more or less than usual.

It doesn't though, the actual ransomware either puts a startup  entry or a cmd line entry.

This one is a CMD entry. You can see it pop up but not affect it when Windows is starting.

Anyway, tried to boot into safe mode with command prompt, it went through the diagnostic startup fine, booted windows, and then promptly restarted.

This is absolutely disgusting.
I've made the comparison to Nazi Germany already with this, but I'll make it again. Besides, there are only so many things that racist prison camps can remind you of.

Been there. HitmanPRO Kickstarter did not work. It didn't find anything wrong with the system other than some tracking stuff. Upon upgrading from 3.7.3 to 3.7.6 build 201, the USB refuses to be booted from, despite it being 1st on the boot list in the BIOS.

What the hell Greece? There's something obviously wrong with the government there when the police watch Nazis attack people in the streets and do fuck all to help. And that's not even getting into the prison camps and everything that's wrong with that.

Gonna invoke Godwin's law (second time on this page) but they're beginning to sound like Nazi Germany...
Considering that actual fascist groups are mentioned a few times in that article, I believe this time it might be justified.

ETA: I mean the Godwin, not whatever is going on in Greece.
