Uh-huh. I remember one time, asking a train conductor whether a train was about to leave to [PLACE].
He gives me this look of mild, smirking disbelief, like I'm a complete idiot, and says slowly, "...No."

I'm not sure exactly what I did to warrant this complete stranger's dislike, but it just made me so helplessly angry. Standing there, beside the train windows as it rolled off, I just felt even more like some sort of incompetent moron that shouldn't be allowed out of the house. :-\ Like I had an audience to witness my cluelessness. This is like how I end up missing my stop on the bus by [INSERT LONG DISTANCE HERE] because I'll be too shy and scared of making a fool of myself to jump up and say, "Oh noes, that was my stop!"

At least, on the bright side, after catching the wrong train that day I ended up stranded at this tiny little country town's station, where it was incredibly peaceful. That cheered me up, and I ended up doing some good writing as I sat there for a couple of hours.

Crossing over from the WTF thread, after playing Spore a bit when I was younger and remarking that 'it could've been better', I just watched This. And it made me RAEG. Not from the content, but from how that really good game potential got turned into whatr we know as Spore today. Simplified for the masses.

Ah, I remember getting so excited about Spore and watching a potentially great game die painfully.

I remember getting all excited, then disappointed. Then still shelling out something in the neighborhood of eighty bucks for the damn thing.

Speaking of EA. (Before we get there, yeah, yeah, I know, but not everyone who likes it is a douchebag fucknozzle. It's just most of them.) Madden. The game has so much potential, but it turns out like crap every year because none of the game modes have been changed since 2005. Hell, except the graphics and the names of the players, really nothing has. (Note: I haven't played 13, and that's supposed to be different, but I'm not holding my breath.) Even the NCAA games get updated with new stuff more frequently than the cash cow. WTFRAAAGE!

Combustion deserves a better fate than to be subjected to EA.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

No, you are human.

BUT THERE IS STILL HOPE

IN A PLANET NEAR YOU, COMES THRIVE

Thrive is an Indie project widely inspired by the concept behind Spore. Though Spore was initially billed as a realistic, scientific game about evolution, the final product got watered down until it had practically nothing to do with science or reality. Thrive aims to succeed where Spore failed. Thrive will be a free, open-source game created by an online community of dedicated volunteers. They seek to accomplish two major goals: create engaging, compelling gameplay that respects the players’ intelligence, and remain as accurate as possible in their depiction of known scientific theory.
