* kaijyuu is still on vista.

Like hell I was going to buy a new OS when I built my computer when I could use the one I bought previously.

This post made me raaaaaaaaaaaaaage.

The cost of loss of productivity by using Vista is much greater than the cost of a decent OS.

To be fair, I dual boot with Ubuntu. I only really use Windows for gaming.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

I think I miss XP (currently running Win7) for pretty much the same reasons.

I still prefer XP because I find Vista and 7 to be overly fancy-looking. Dammit, functionality's more important than form!

Vista and 7 both have the 'disable aero' function, which more or less disables the fancy. Some programs do it automatically temporarily if they think you're going to slow with it on.

I admit that I've grown to like the fancy in the newer OS's. Or at least, I've gotten so used to it that when certain programs disable the fancy, it kinda throws me for a loop. Haven't noticed any real loss of functionality either, other than the lack of an easy Run command on the start menu.
