that sounds like too much micromanagement. What if i set [child:0] in the RAWs?

[CHILD:n] is how old the creature is when it stops being a child.  If you don't want them to breed, remove the male or female caste.

Does a tree provide support? I'm thinking of making suspended platforms.
Trees will support random objects or creatures thrown on top of them, but won't support floors or walls or any other buildings or constructions.

OK but it's still a matter of how many hits you do, as opposed to the damage/opponent?

I.e. hitting an armored goblin with a wooden stick gives the same experience as decapitating a dragon with one strike?

i think i read somewhere here on the forums that some dabbling/novice wrestler supplexed a titan and got legendary right off the bat. he died right after, but i'd say yes, difficulty of the target and/or successful/effective attacks give more experience.

My ashery has a bunch of buckets with water and lye in them. What can I do to get these buckets back?

i think you can go t-> and reclaim them if they're forbidden for some reason

otherwise you might not have space on your stockpiles so just enlarge one or make more. cant remember which stockpile those go to though

That doesn't say how to get rid of the unusable lye/water mix, though.

Is there any information out there about how soldiers choose their equipment if not assigned a specific item?  Do they go for the highest value, most effective, personal preferences, or a combination?  Or is it completely random?

I know this has probably been asked before, but is there an easy way to limit the number of pets?

Levers for the owners, repeating spikes for the pets.

that sounds like too much micromanagement. What if i set [child:0] in the RAWs?
[/quote] Levers for the owner and atom smash him. The tag you want is verminhunter. This tag makes pets hunt animal AND choose its owner. If you can live with rats, remove the tag so cats wont get adopted as pets randomly. If you cannot, kill everyone who like cats and thus can be adopted by them.

Alternatively just ignore them, there's a pet cap per race at 50 or something anyway.

didnt realize that was what you were asking. i guess you could try dumping but i dont know if they'll spill the contents. i think you can try selling the contents to traders, that might free the container but i think all liquid containers have their contents in the name so i dont think that can work. you could just trade them for empty containers though.

about pet counts: i dont know if all animals count in the max pets setting, but i've had like 140+ animals in some of my forts and i didnt tamper with the setting. you can always just make cat stew or remove the tag that makes them pettable like rephikul says

i also have a question.
where.are.the.FRICKIN.TOWNS???
i cant find them.i get roads, and empty sites(at adventurer mode)
sometimes i luckily find an human town.and then,they are"quite untroubeled",my ass,im bored.
and dwarven mountainhomes seem nonexistant.i find roads, but not towns.only empty laces.
why is that?and if they still ARE somwhere, then where?
.
Towns are currently broken due to site sprawl development.

Wait, you said they were in your ashery.

From the wiki: "Lye must be moved from the buckets into a barrel to make soap. This is done automatically if you have a food stockpile with "misc. liquid" enabled, and a spare barrel."

So I'd say, follow those instructions and you should end up with a barrel containing lye, and a bucket containing water.

There's a bug in lye production where water buckets don't get emptied before they're used for lye, resulting in the bucket being unusable for either because of the other.

The OP (whom I am not) said he (?) wanted the lye/water buckets in his ashery useable again.

Okay, but unless I misunderstand you, that just means the bucket can't be used anymore in the ashery.

If we manage to get the lye out of the bucket and into a barrel in a stockpile while the ashery is stopped, we should end up with a bucket containing nothing but water in the ashery, yes? Or is this also bugged, you can't get the lye out because of the water?
