I found out I was a vampire after I accidentally drank the wrong blood smear off my armour. Now I'm in a tower full of friendly necromancers, reading their tourist guides (The Definitive Guide to Splatterbastion), autobiographies, and weirdly cheerful fanfics.

edit- wow, they're into emo poetry as well. I recruited one of them!

My fresh dwarf adventurer has been rewarded with ≡Steel Chain Leggings≡

And holy crap this is one tall keep I'm in. It just goes up and up and up!

So much stuff to take... Steel everywhere!

I have discovered a cave entrance, apparently.  I can't find it, though, there's just this big mound of basalt on the map that the site compass keeps pointing me to.

It's in that mound of basalt. You'll have to wander around and 'l'ook for a 1-tile-wide entrance leading into the mound. Should be on the slopes somewhere. Often very difficult to spot.

Investigating a camp nearby on the map to where the cave entrance was, I managed to kill an elite goblin crossbowman by throwing a snowball at his head.   8)

After dozens of past lives of slaying bandit leaders and vampires and whatnot, never being given any kind of reward for it, the newest incarnation of the adventurer Cudgelshaft said "screw this, they won't pay me for my work? I take my pay out of their hides."

He woke up in the human village of Blownfist, walked into the nearest house, punched the man blocking the door in the face hard enough to kill him, chucked his body at (what Cudgelshaft presumed to be) his wife, stabbed the third through his face, and moved on.

I managed to kill seven people before taking an arrow to the right lower leg, and from there out it got ridiculous. I couldn't walk, so Cudgel just dragged himself along the ground like some kind of land battleship, firing broadsides of meat cleavers and scalpels he'd looted off previous foes at the inhabitants of the next house. Eventually, he lost his left foot to a miner (the hammerdwarf next to the miner fainted when I lopped his foot off-pansy!) but soldiered on.

By the time a farmer with a meat cleaver sticking out of his liver knifed him from behind, Cudgelshaft had 69 kills to his name and was suffering from moderate blood loss and feeling faint. Nevertheless, he never passed out once.

I do not, however, consider the debt owed to me by the denizens of the World of Prophecy to be repaid in full yet...

Generally, when one is conducting an experiment, it is worth noting that the observers went insane, killed each other, and then rose from the dead.

The horror!

I just got my entire adventuring party outfitted (in some NICE gear) and out the door to take care of a local vampire in one of the temple catacombs, when we disturb a mummy in said catacombs. I put the mummy down almost as soon as it came out the door, preventing it from raising anything else, but unfortunately it's chamber consisted of some ungodly number of corpses that it raised before opening the door! Within five turns we were overrun, undead skeletons all over us. But we beat them back, and back again, and again. I noticed one of us was cut off in the room, surrounded by zombies, then suddenly, due to some ☼dodging☼ on my part, I too was in there with them. Except they were dead, and I was almost a goner as I'd been dogpiled by a half dozen or so of them, but I apparently dodged multiple attacks only to land in the door to the mummy's chamber again. Not often do you get a free two-way ticket to the middle of a skeleton horde and back.

Eventually, after a 15-minute real-time battle, the last corpse returned to being a corpse and sank to the floor with a clatter of dry, hollow bones. I surveyed the damage, and discovered that 3 2 out of our 7 died in the battle, presumably dragged away into the middle of the horde. All that effort getting everyone suited up in the best quality gear available, and they just HAD to die the first chance they got. Fucking dorfs. I came in with all 6 available dwarvn military professions, but only the swordsdwarf, speardwarf, and marksdwarf (and apparently the hammerdwarf. Thought I saw him flee like a coward halfway through!) survive, the latter only becuase she stood back and shot things like a good girl. The speardwarf will never walk again without these crutches I snagged for us.at all, ever. Apparently crutches don't help with a broken lower spine.

None of us had a martial trance as far as I know, despite being outnumbered by at least 25:1 and cleaving through them as if we had been in a trance. And we're all dwarves, too. If there were any more mummies down here, we'd be screwed beyond belief. My biggest regret is not taking an elemental mage caste character so I could zap the damn things and generally kick ass. After all, the only thing that could make such a ☼fight☼ more dwarfy would be magma/fire in general.

Turns out the mummy was previously the queen of my civ...

Welp, it seems my adventurer has been cursed by elemental mage lightning to always be asleep when leaving fast travel. I really need to figure out why it causes permanent chronic sleep upon exiting fast travel...

My maceman got sawed to death by a swordsman wielding a chainsword. I'm burying him at sea with two Byakhee heads and my prized knife, as a final sign of respect.

I just fought a family of 15 night creatures and won. I originally planned to scorch the whole place down, but my Draconic Heritage ability takes a while to recharge, so I just bisected everyone. I also attacked another night creature in a different lair, and I now feel bad for it. It ate snail paste. Poor thing.

I am also now the best night creature hunter known to dragon-people. I killed a few werebeasts while they were not in their beast form, and for some reason I found 2 chromatic drago eggs.

Then I settled down in a lair near a town. I cleaned out the night creature corpses, bought some furniture and placed them in the lair.

First adventure. I find out I can fast travel, and I end up messing with that, once making me run into a kobold swordsman...

and next stop, I end up being ambushed by a sh*tton of bogeymen. I end up dying from heavy bruising all over my f*cking body, but not before bringing some down with me and learning how the attack system works in Adventure Mode.

Youre giving Me flashbacks. Of discovering in 40d, that there was more to exploring than running off in a random direction and hoping to stumble upon other moving icons.

Spent twenty minutes looking for the entrance to a dwarven city that was on my map.  Finally checked the wiki to see what I should be looking for only to learn that dwarf fortresses and tree cities are not actually there, just their map marker is.  Oh well.
