Well people's guess what if you didn't know already. The new version has been released DF2010 is out and I doubt that saves will go between them. It's up to everyone here whether to continue this save and succession game or to jump to the new version and start over or drop it all together. We can always continue till at least everyone has had a turn. Up to all of you. Cast ya votes!! I don't know how to start a poll so just post it. lol

I'm happy to carry on with this game.

Maybe once it's finished we can do one for the new version? That'll give us a bit of time for the bugs in the new one to be sorted out.

I'm not laying a hand on the new version's fortress mode until some utilities get released  :P

4th of Limestone, 53, Early Autumn

Thob collapsed in the hall today.

Not everyone is pleased.

5th of Limestone, 53, Early Autumn

Farms are finally doing what they were meant to do.

Everyone decided now would be a good time to stop working and waste all the food.

):<

11th of Limestone, 53, Early Autumn

We found Dobar's swollen corpse at the bottom of the well channel, I suspect suicide.

actually I think he dodged a muskox

12th of Limestone, 53, Early Autumn

We probably touched a nerve when we told Dishmab, One of the miners about what happened to Dobar.

She just snapped, ran out of the well room and start beating up the first person she grabbed

The military quickly intervened. Not quick enough.

14th of Limestone, 53, Early Autumn

The mountain liaison and caravan arrived today.

Good thing I built a trade depot.

18th of Limestone, 53, Early Autumn

Another one snapped.

I'm afraid I won't live long enough to pass on the mantle of Overseer to some other unlucky Dwarf.

Once everyone realized that the army has been entirely decimated, they took things to their own hands and piled on 'Crossbolt', she didn't last long.

19th of Sandstone, 53, Mid-Autumn

I went to visit Slayer in her bed, but when I got to her room, she was screaming and thrashing about, when she saw me she jumped out of the bed and ran towards the hall.

The other dwarves saw her and didn't even stop to ask questions..they..they just went up and killed her.

24th of Sandstone, 53, Mid-Autumn

I can't believe my eyes.

Ok, continuing (and hopefully finishing) now.

EDIT: Phil, looks like you killed someone?
EDIT 2: Looks like I did too.
EDIT 3: They were only six migrants mind you. all recruited now.

I had a most chilling feeling of deja vu today.

Lorbam murdered a herbalist and claimed a tanner shop.

1st of Moonstone, 53, Early Winter

Today Lorbam began his...work.

1st of Moonstone, 53, Early Winter

Lorbam walked out of the 'shop today wearing a..well..a..robe..I suppose.

16th of Moonstone, 53, Early Winter

Curse them!

I order all but the joke of a military inside and raise the bridge

Another ambush soon follows.

The goblins seem to be primarily targeting herbalists.

The goblins either died or fled, there's no sign of them for now, all the recruits were decimated but one marksdwarf who might have been accidentally placed in the same squad as them..

Engraved on a wall is an image of Put Orbtheaters the Dwarf, Put Orbtheaters is labouring

Not much is known about this individual, but historians agree that he was most probably in charge of a fortress called Weightknives for a very brief period during the middle of the 1st century. A recently discovered document, presumably written by Orbtheaters himself, suggests that his name was not, in fact, Orbtheaters, even so, there is still no consensus on the authenticity and validity of said document.

21st of Moonstone, 53, Late Winter

With a week left as Overseer of Weightknifes, I began to consider to whom shall I pass the mantle...

28th of Moonstone, 53, New Year's Eve

As darkness begins to fall across the land and as the Dwarves start to finish their various jobs and labours to return to their beds, I sit in my room, and contemplate all that has been achieved and lost. "I don't think I've brewed even one drink this year" passes through my head, I remove the unpleasant thought, have a sip of ale, and head out to the halls.
The door opens silently as I enter the room of the would-be Overseer. I take a deep breath, and place a stone tablet next to their bed.

I wish to you the best of luck

-From a slightly dusty +Journal+, signed "Dusty"-

Oh Armok no.

At the start of Spring, and Exhausted Put, the overlord of the fortress called me to his office. "Well Dusty", he said to me, "For now, you might just be a weaver. But you must fill your new duties! I choose for you to become the new liege of Hamlet Weightknives!"

This place is a mess. We once had many more than this, but they were slain. Embarassingly, many of them were killed by their comrades in a fit of rage.

The fort is vast and sprawling; but the worst of all is that we have NO BOOZE! This is a horrifying thing to be sure. I've taken it upon myself to try and reconcile this.

-9th Granite, Early Spring-
The Elves have come. As much as it pains me, we must swallow our dwarven pride and... not massacre them. We can hardly handle the greenskins, how could we fight them AND those pointy-eared hippies?
-11th Granite-
These Elves frighten the children! As soon as they arrived, Amost the child started acting a little strangely. He never talks to anyone now...in fact, he just barged into a crafts workshop... how bizarre. Another type of Mood?
Dammit, he keeps drawing shells. Not a good sign.
-14th Granite-
With merchants come Kobolds. One of them was noticed by... the neighing of a donkey. How wonderful.
-7th Slate-
Ha ha, migrants! Now we might be able to get some real work done! In all, 20 showed up.
-8th Slate-
Ffffffff- damn it Phil, go to the depot already! Stop bringing stuff to it! (Finally showed up on 11th Slate)
-11th Slate-
Never put your hopes in Elves. Even less stuff than you would expect... just leave now... good riddance.
-25th Slate-
Poor Amost. The lack of shells has made him suicidally insane. Oh well, I can call off the military now.
