The Kessel run goes right through a black hole, and you have to go around it.  The faster your ship, the closer you can come to the event horizon without being overcome by its gravity.  As a result, making it in 12 parsecs is indeed a feat.
Huh, I never knew that, never read any of the books or anything. Interesting.

If you really want to be overly analytical, try to figure out why the robots in the Matrix used humans as their fuel when they were more than capable of drilling down to the mantle and powering themselves on geothermal energy, which doesn't want to rebel and destroy them.
Don't even get me started on the matrix! Not only is it an inefficient system, but an impossible one. It would take more power to keep that number of humans alive than they produce. Not to mention the horrendous security flaws in a computer system that conforms to match the user's intentions. One sufficiently crazy person would bring the whole thing crashing down! Neo ain't got nothing on a mind that truly thinks it is in a different world than it is.

Interestingly, there's a fan theory that the whole thing in Revolutions where Neo somehow had his powers in real life and all that weird nonsense was actually a second layer of the Matrix designed to confound and pacify rebellious types.  It actually makes the series way better.

Makes senses really.  Like the end of MGS2.  The "real" world was as much of an illusion as the Matrix itself, which would also make the Architect's wacky conversations much more logical.

My theory from the start is that the humans don't really know how the Machines work or what their goals are.  Not only does it violate the laws of thermodynamics to keep humans alive as a power source, but it has to cost a stupid amount of power to run the Matrix, which as pointed out isn't even a good prison.  I think the computer mind at the heart of the Machines is just plain insane.  The Matrix isn't a necessary prison, it's an overt torture chamber for the entire human race, punishment by the Machine for whatever transgression it believes humanity suffered on it.

All the obtuse conversations and ghosts and Zion and crap are a smokescreen, because defeating humans who have hope is so much more satisfying than tormenting humans who have nothing.

How do they have emotions?

Although, that is a pretty good way of looking at it. At the end, people go back to being complacent because they think they're free. Clever idea, and I never saw the problem with being in a perfectly ordinary world that happens to be a simulation, provided you never find out.

Alright, I can't bike in the streets around here. I'll die after hitting the first canyon of potholes and the frenzy of Virgina drivers. Thus I always take the sidewalks, where college students think the half-foot space between them and the curb is enough for a biker(Me) to move through.

And then there are the four way intersections with four-way stop signs that drivers completely ignore. I am the reason you stop at those signs you bastards!

And MGS2, because while one expects crazy government conspiracies and shadow organizations to be in a MGS title nobody expects a whiny, disobedient, backtalking nancyboy whose girlfriend is about as unlikeable as he is. And they have unlikeable mellowdramatic conversations about their lives that I really don't care for. I wanna choke a dude!
And while I could theoretically forgive them if they kept those scenes during the save times they decide every five feet needs a cutscene. Goddam people, I don't like this character! I want to walk on seagull poop just to humiliate him. I want to cartwheel up stairs to break his back. If I could control Snake and shoot him I would.
And then there is Vamp. I don't want to get started on Vamp.

"Jack, your bedroom was empty!  Empty like your sssooouuulll!"  "I don't like clutter, bitch."  C'mon, that was the funniest part of the whole game.  That and the "Colonel" freaking out at the end.

At least Kojima actually accepted criticism for once and tightened the laces on MGS3.  I'm sorry dude, I know you're meta and all, but some camera controls and easter-eggs in a 30 minute cutscene does not gameplay make.  Especially when there's more than one 30 minute cutscene in the same chapter.  I don't know what MGS4 is like though, but I heard it backslid a bit.

And then there is Vamp. I don't want to get started on Vamp.

Don't get me started on him either.  What.  The.  Fuck.  Goddamn rushed development dumping four boss-fights on one character.

I hear there are several instances of masturbation in MGS2. Or rather, I saw it when looking up easter eggs on youtube.

What. The. Hell.

How can you forget the bomb disposal man who blew up his soul (And then himself)?

You have no idea.  Kojima is kind of infamous for slipping ecchi pseudo-porn into his games.  MGS2 is why.  There's lockers all over the place, most of them with posters of 12~ year old Japanese girls in them.  There's special codec calls all over for messing with them.  Which doesn't even get into the porn-mags you can use as bait, the goofy shit with E.E. and the hostages, and the guy who pees on you.

Right at this point I'd say something like "I need to play this game" for comedic effect but God damn man.

This was actually my first impression after seeing the second one.  I was quite disappointed when this turned out not to be the case.

I never saw the problem with being in a perfectly ordinary world that happens to be a simulation, provided you never find out.
I never saw the problem even after you find out. Then it's just as good as reality, but with superpowers! Why leave when you could stay and have fun? It's like the ultimate VR game.

I've never seen anything but the first movie, all I know is that the violations of logic/common sense grow progressively worse.
