Anya, do you have the save backed up?  'Cause I've seen two X-com LPs die so far from save corruption.  Within a year.  On this forum.  :-\

I'm seeing a trend here.

Nice mood setting, but how did we see him fall to the ground with a shoulder wound through the radio?
I agree with seal face here.  It really breaks the whole immersion thingy.  Not that I'm all that big on it anyway.  Try the good old "couple lines of dialog, yelling, pistol shots, plasma, screaming, static".  It tends to work better.  Much better mood.

due to a combination of being out most of the day and the new release turning the forums into a pasty goo I have not been able to make a reply till now.

You are all right about the last story post. I did mess up point of view in two ways:
1) didn't define point of view or keep it constant throughout the paragraph
2) compacted too much into to little a space. More description may have been used to great effect to clear up what all was going on.

The post could have benefited from some revision but I neglected it. RAM was correct in explaining how I was thinking the scene, however the words I used to describe it ultimately determine what the scene actually looks like.

new redshirts are on the way. the LP is a bit slow paced so it seems like weeks go by before something really happens. If your concerned that I forgot to do something however, please bring it up because I might have just forgotten.

as for save corruption. I'll start backing up my save folders. I may already be the longest running X-Com LP on the forum but I'm not about to quit.

Ok now to go and get a little bit of writing done. so late tonight x.x

Funny thing:

I'm listening to that online game music playlist, and Sengoku Rance appears in the list.

For those who do not know, Sengoku Rance is a Japanese H-Game.  So it's kinda like listening to a movie music playlist and having porno music appear.  But unlike American Porno music, the Sengoku Rance music is pretty good.

yeah they mix in a few strange ones like the soviet national anthem over-top yoshi's story and rick astly's(sp?) never gonna give you up over a chrono trigger song. still pretty decent.

I like the system you're using to make this LP. It seems similar to how I've been updating my Bloodfist project using Notepad++ (with the 'Properties' language to highlight most of the HTML/BBCoding stuff.

I ought to do something like this if I decide to take up an LP of my own. Of course, with MS Office in tow. Overall, the systems don't seem too different. I've made a few XLS files that are cross-compatible. Then again Office 2003 is more user-friendly.

in my college courses we learned to use the programs we were being taught to an advanced level. at the basic level, the two programs are almost identical. really they should be because they are both the same kind of program. its once you get into the deeper features such as functions, formulas, conditional formatting and the different little features.

some of the features in the MS office programs are proprietary so they are not in the open office programs.

this is easily seen between MS word and Corel WordPerfect.

sorry for the double post (ha ha yeah... kinda late on that one ^.^; ) but I wanted to ask the players a question.

previously I had given some players who lost a character in battle the option of whether they lived or died. If they lived they would be hospitalized (storywise) for awhile (around a month then replace a redshirt) and if they died, they would simply be replaced with a new character if the player wanted.

Should I give this choice to all players (I think yes)? Or should I "man up" and stop doing this?

Maybe, it is a bit awkward to justify people losing their rank because of injury, but I made my character with the expectation that we would be up to RAM IV by now...

The choice would be nice, but I'd encourage people to die a bit more.

ram has just been really lucky so far.

I think I will continue to use it extremely sparingly if at all.

While I don't believe I have a currently active soldier, my opinion is that it wouldn't be out of line in certain situations to be decided on a case by case basis. But, I believe that part of the fun of these types of LPs is the risk of having your character die. That risk adds some uncertainty, some drama.
