I haven't been paying games for many years of my life,but i haven't found one that really scared me yet.perhaps,if i was to over think it and imagine if it was real,i could see myself getting paranoid about it,but "scared" is a bit too strong of a word to use with games.concerned,maybe.concerned about the characters well being,but nothing else.

Dead space came the closest.i was on edge for a while,but once you figure out the tricks,its not surprising when things come after you.and i couldn't bring myself to take it seriously when my reinforcements,the marines,were wiped out by one necromorph.really,guys,really.

But i digress,perhaps if i were to try and immerse myself more in to it,make myself feel like the character,i would get more emotional about it.

They need a game where you have to run away from all the monsters, and it is very rare that you get the ability to actually kill them (or, at least, it is very difficult to do so). That would be pretty harrowing.

Sounds like you might like the Clocktower games, though I'm not familiar enough with them to be sure.

try call of cthulhu: dark corners of the earth. everybody is out to get you, wounds disable you, effective weapons are pretty rare -and shit messing with your head is a fuckin' game mechanic

When did this game come out? look interesting,looking at the website.made by Bethesda,so at least some quality can be expected.

Tip for hunters: Hold something infront of you, when they shoot it with flechets fire it abck at them, the flechets will detonate when it hits them.

The flechettes don't always hit the thing you're holding. In fact, the lions share hit you even if you're holding something tall. I'd rather smack them with a water heater (which causes them to stumble) twice before they get off an attack than wait, catch the darts, and THEN attack. Either way, I HATE the Hunters.
They're absurdly easy once you realize you can just run over them with the car. You only fight them one or two times when you can't just do that.

Also smart: jumping out of the car after they flechette it, then getting back in after they explode. Bonus points if you manage to hit one while doing so.

I mean, they jump out at you from shadows and shit, screaming bloody horror. Spiders scare me more. D:

2 is better because I get confidence from me being a fucking Alpha Series Protector.

Zelda. The bloody wallmasters.

They're so easy to avoid, but I really have to psyche myself up before going into any room I know contains one. I guess it's just that you can only kill them after they've had a shot at grabbing you from above. Plus, how did Nintendo come to the conclusion that it was a good idea to have a monster that teleports you out of the dungeon?

Redeads and Gibdos... Eh. Not so much. Even if their groaning is pretty creepy and they can paralyze you by screaming, you can still hack away at them face-to-face.

Oh yeah, I'd forgotten about them. I hate those "zap" type enemies because they're scary in a different way than twitching zombies or monsters or what have you.
Actually... speaking of zap, but in a different way, those fucking electric beans were the stuff of nightmares in the old zelda games for gameboy when i was like 11, because you couldn't kill them with any "metal" weapons. First time they zapped me practically scared my pants off :P

The zombies from Time Splitters: Future perfect.

The soundtrack and atmosphere got to me, plus the facts that:

A. I did not expect to run into zombies.

B. Headshots are the only shots that count.

Then again, if you drown out the music with something else, it feels like a cakewalk. Not that it stays anything other than a scrappy level.

I will admit.  The first Controller I ran into in SoC I ran from.  Why is the sound ringing like t...OH GOD WHAT THE HELL IS THAT.  I quickly ran up the ladder and got the hell out of there.  They weren't so frightening in CoP.  Sure they mess up your aim, but nothing likely the horrible blurry double/quad vision that the SoC ones gave you.  Burers were pretty messed up too.


Oh and pretty much everything in Ecco the Dolphin.  That game was nightmare fuel.
I've got STALKER: Clear Sky, and while the Controller(there's only one in that game as far as I know) is fairly scary, the scariest moment for me was in the beginning, trekking through the swamp at night with a shotgun. I heard a rustle in the bushes behind me, I turned and fired at... nothing. I turned back around and... a herd of boars coming at me. And sure they're easy, but the fact they can coordinate a distraction and an attack from behind, that's scary.

And you too, for Ecco? That game was... *shudders*

Resident Evil: Scary sometimes.
Well, 4+ are anyway. Lots of "OH GOD THE CHAINSAW GUY IS COMING GET OUT OF THE WAY AHH" moments to be had with friends. Quick time events usually harm it a bit for me.
Meh, the scene in RE2 when the Licker jumps through the one-sided mirror was a good shock.
Can't think of any more, but basically any game where you can't see for the darkness or you have limited line of sight most of the time generally worries me. Flashlights that move around or stutter can do it as well, but yeah.
Silent Hill? I know SH2 has a flashlight(which you need). And Silent Hill is generally scary. Oh, and ignore the part in the manual where it says to turn off the flashlight so enemies don't see it, it doesn't work, they see you anyway.

Oh yeah, actually some of the more retro RE games weren't too terrible, actually :P I remember that licker.

Also ehhh, the silent hill games never did that much for me, though I've only really played the room very much. It just seemed silly, but I suppose I could give SH2 a go.
