Seriously, DF is freakin scary. If this game had graphics beyond sprites, it would be rated Ao.

Well, DF won't really be submitted to the ESRB. Even if it got famous, it still remains an internet download. You only really need a rating so stores will sell your game.

And in any case, ESRB ratings aren't legally binding. Refusing to sell M-Rated games to minors is just store policy. Note, though, that games that (could) receive an AO rating, particularly due to explicit sexual content, are probably illegal to sell to(or even play in front of) minors.
