Just started trying out Warband stuff. Early thoughts: While it's mostly the same game (+ multiplayer which I don't really care for), there are some nice changes to it! New graphic options do make the game look better although it also falls into the brown-and-grey-and-bloom nextgen look on some settings. There are more quests and the new tutorial is much improved, and several ideas from mods have made their way in - a healthbar for horses, for instance.

Yep, it was released yesterday. They jumped from beta version 0.86
to the release version 1.1, probably to get it out of the door in March
to appease publisher, distributors, banks and other vermin.

There are still some bugs to be fixed but in my opinion it's in an overall fine state,
the long term semi-open beta did a good job. I was testing it since September.

22.xx€ vermin-free direct download on the Talesworlds site.

Downloading Warband off Impulse as I type. Considering I got at least 200 hours of gameplay (and still playing even up to this morning) out of vanilla, I get the feeling this will be quite a bit of fun! Especially for only $30. Mount and Blade is the sort of game I play when I want to listen to an hour long podcast (since the sound is unimportant and the gameplay quite fun).

:S I can't justify a $30 warband purchase right now because I bought the original game for $5 years ago and been playing the beta for ages- while awesome- I don't believe is worth $30 of my money at this moment.

Maybe during a sale.

I still do highly reccomend M&B since there's nothing really quite like it.

Hurray for warez.

The official download link is horribly slow and crashes all the time for me. Warez fixes it all.

1. Download warez
2. Apply your legit serial key
3. ???
4. No profit, but win.

I just used Impulse, DLed in like 15 minutes (its only 600mb).

As for the game itself... Not all that much different, but if you don't yet have the original, buy it. Or if you like multiplayer battles (not my cup o' tea). More than anything, its kinda of a bunch of small things that add up to make it feel quite different. The melee weapons have a much different feel to them; their trajectories are more rounded off now than the ones from vanilla which fellt like you were essentially swinging in a line. There are some decent quests, including an optional start quest, although most I came across were the old typical courier missions. More armor, and generally more items overall, including a bunch of new trade goods. If you have the original, I would wait until it goes down to get it if you aren't like me and feel guilty for paying only $7.50 for the vanilla which gave hundreds of hours of gameplay.  ;D

And now for the obligatory warning about release bugs: there have been a couple bugs I came across, one involving lighting effects, another involving some script error which occured while traveling (I do not know what that bug did, if anything, just showed up in the events pane).

I lack cash at the moment, and was just agonizing if I could spend $4 on a snack earlier.  Dammit, Warband, why must you be moderately sort-of expensive?
