We kind of broke the gametype in 3 and 4.  I forget the details, but they're in the back of the KM4 thread.

Alright, I have some ideas, firstly though, how did those guys make confirmed townies? I just don't want to read through the whole thing.

Just throwing ideas out there.

Variation 1:
  • Instead of the King maker being secret, the mod declares who he is at the start of the day as well as whom he selected for kingship the previous night.
  • There is only 1 mafia
  • The mafia can be the king maker
  • the kingmaker can't choose himself to be king or vice king.
  • The same people can be chosen twice or more in a row to be king or vice king

Variation 2:
  • There is no king maker
  • players vote, and whomever obtains hammer is the King for the day, and he may execute a player, which then ends the day..

I've never actually played a King Maker game, so I'm not sure how either of these would effect balance.

Var 2:That could work.

Also, they become confirmed townies by admitting they're KM's and nobody counter-claiming.

And I was confirmed by town not insta-losing when I manipulated the RNG into making me king at lylo.

That actually sounds pretty interesting, although I don't think the "Kingmaker is made public" is completely necessary (although the KM will probably want to claim at some point anyway even if they're mafia, since otherwise the KM is guaranteed scum and he's making a trail of confirmed townies).  The only annoying thing will be if there's one really lurky/ newbie player who the scum KM just keeps kinging - the town has no way to get rid and him and it basically comes down to the whims of that one person.

I think variation 2's been run a few times (President Mafia is one name for it), and I think a variant here has had a sleeping god role that did that, so that should be perfectly balanced.

As I said, I will happily run the next Beginner's Mafia game.
It's the end of the year for me (>:D) and in 2 weeks I will be much more active (hopefully...), if anyone is interested I can try making a mafia/RTD 2-thread game (>:D)

Bah. I haven't quite finished all the mechanics. And I'm really lazy! If I run that, I'd HAVE to not be running any other games. BYOR'll be done soon, and KotM is... meh, I could probably still run that. It just takes like 30 minutes to set up a Round and a few minutes of daily upkeep. KWN:WE is... a little more upkeep.

Any interest in another stab at Dethy Deluxe?  If I ran it, I'd take it down a notch from last time.  Standard no-kill N0 start.  11 players, with 2 sets of SPIN cops, 2 scum, and one simple third party (antimiller survivor, SK, lyncher, something like that).  Probably no millers or godfathers.
