Huh, meaning of life. I'm not going to answer that scientifically, because other people have already done so in this thread and that's probably not what is meant by this question anyways. Personally, I never found a concrete, direct answer for the meaning of life, or that of my life more specifically. But hey, I'm happy, people around me are (mostly) happy, life's awesome, and living's awesome. Sure there are ups and downs, but I can mostly only see ups from my vantage point. So who cares why I'm here, I just enjoy life as I go, and try to make it more awesome when I can.

Of course, this is very specific to me, other people most probably have completely different ideas about life (and completely different lives for that matter), but hey, you cant expect a single unified answer when asking a question as broad and vague as "What is the meaning of life?"

Well, the motto I've been following for quite the long time is :
"The meaning of life is to GIVE life meaning", as in: you find something that you like and spend your life doing it (to reasonable degrees of course).

2.Learn how to use and how to fix/clean/dry an assault rifle.
3.Kill another human being with said weapon.
4.Get married.
5.Have a family.
6.Somehow succeed in life through one way or another.
7.Hunt and live out in the wilderness for a few days.
8.Die peacefully.
9.Make sure to make will before I die.

Seriously, I probably have more chance of death at the hands of another human being than dieing naturally, like from disease or old age.

And I'm not sure the military are looking for people who actually want to kill another human (by which I mean any human), nor am I sure you explained yourself correctly. What I think you meant (obviously I could be quite wrong) is that you want to be in a situation where you're fighting against someone who you percive as a threat to your country, your family, whatever, in a combat situation i.e. not just some random street brawl or whatever, because bringing a gun to a forced knife fight invalidates self defense claims.

Did I get that right?

I was wondering, to what extent a guy who claims to want to join the military to have an excuse to kill people is actually suitable to join a military corps? From my POV that's hiring potential Nidal Malik Hassan material.
