That's the common thread I think that binds all depression sufferers together. Ask any of them and you'll hear it. A long explanation of what's bugging them almost always ending with a variation of, "I'm just so tired."

I think we don't explain what kinda tired we mean though. It's bone-deep and pervasive. The kinda tired where you feel a hundred pounds heavier and twenty years older. I think it's why so many ultimately give up. Depression is the most extreme endurance run you'll ever face. It's like being given a hundred pound backpack at the start of a supermarathon.

It's deeply exhausting, both physically and emotionally. There's so few things that help. I just talk to people. It's the only thing that helps me. I babble and chat and blather and talk. Endlessly about everything. Usually it helps.

I'm curious as to how a tank would evolve. Would it climb out of the primordial ooze wiggling it's track-nubs, feeding on smaller jeeps before crawling onto the shore having evolved proper treds?
My ship exploded midflight, but all the shrapnel totally landed on Alpha Centauri before anyone else did.  Bow before me world leaders!

Both of the above are accurate, I've struggled with depression as well.

I'll plus 1 all this too. I have found that mentality is important; if I can stop the initial falling off the cliff into the depressiveness, I can push through things and keep going, for the most part.

The only issue is that this is unbelievably general advice, and I'm not sure how well you know your own process of what causes an episode, or if you know how things generally develop in how you feel and think and the sensations and such, to be more specific regarding what to do. There are also things I can't stop once the ball starts rolling, which is saddening. I guess I'm lucky in that respect, because those things generally make me so tired I can sleep through the worst of it.

Getting out of the house helps a lot too, even if it's just a walk around a few blocks.

I did that one year around Christmas in the snow. It was bad enough I was literally lying on the floor for maybe an hour before I kicked myself up.

I walked over to the nearby grocery lot and put all the carts back where they belonged. It was an interesting night.

Heh, I'm not even in an episode now. The meds I'm on are thankfully fairly effective at reducing the incidence rate.

I'm just generally a sadsack.

I saw my car leaking coolant today, and apparently a gasket is leaking pretty badly....  I can still drive for the moment, but I'm really concerned about the future of my reliable transportation. Which I kinda need... especially as Autumn is coming to a close and Winter is drawing nearer.

I just had two car repairs, I feel your pain.

We had my front hood fuse itself shut and then the battery died. They had to cut it open and replace the mechanism. Then my wife's engine ejected an entire spark plug assembly with enough force to distend the hood and noone has any idea why. It's probably moisture that gt in there but that was extremely exciting.

I found that a friend that makes you laugh, despite yourself, works well.
I've battled this monster off and on for some years myself.  (I find it is mostly brought on by the bullshit of other people. Might be why I tend towards being a hermit. A hermit with just a handful of good friends.)

my sleep sched is really fucked and i'm really bad at fixing it, it's really not helping with the general piece of shit feel i've been having the last two weeks. the multiple cans of monster probably aren't helping either but frankly it's less for the sugar or the caffiiine or whatever it's that it tastes really fucking good
