Everybody always thinks that the world is coming to an end. It's a result of mortal being's limited perception of time and the fact that we don't usually consider all of human history when thinking about our current situation. I imagine that when plague came for the Byzantine Empire, it seemed like the world was ending. To a soldier on the battlefields of World War 1, when chemical warfare was becoming a thing, it must have looked like humanity had reached the peak of its ability to kill people. When the nuclear bomb was revealed to the world, people were always talking about how we could all go up in a fireball at any second. None of these things brought about the apocalypse, and generations have come and gone since then, the doomsayers forgotten.

I'm trying not to be a dick, but humanity, civilization, and the Earth itself will probably be fine in our lifetimes.

eHHH, climate change begs to differ. Probably won't wipe out civilization, though. It'll still be the worst thing ever to happen to it since sliced bread, mine you. And will totally happen within our lifetimes.

Normally I'd say that if the world is ending, we should rise up and save it or some Kamina-esque motivational thing like that, but I really can't deny that things are looking... dark.
That's probably just due to the huge orange sunglasses you're wearing.

...Also, how do y'all figure the world's ending more than usual? Sure, there's plenty of especially awful stuff going on currently (looking at you, Duerte) but I'm not seeing anything particularly  apocalyptic unless China winds up mobilizing its military over some silly territorial dispute.

The worst thing Trump could possibly do is put a conservative on the supreme court, since the other two branches are going to deny him on everything he tries.
I'm worried about Erdogan and Duterte, though.

If you'll excuse me, Turkey and The Phillipines aren't exactly world powers. Worst they'll do is pull either a Saddam Hussein and invade a neighbour or murder everyone in the country. Nobody really bothers about those things until foreigners start getting caught up in it.

I'm concerned about the people in those countries, not what the leaders will do to other countries.

Yeah, both of those situations are really bad, but they don't seem particularly likely to bring about the end of the world as far as I can see.
That's all I'm saying. Terrible things are happening all over the world, but I don't think they're about to destroy it.

Normally when I hear a response like that, they add on "and so/therefore they deserve what happens." I'm in the right getting my hopes up and assuming you won't say the same, right?

I wouldn't go so far as to say that, but it would be difficult to feel sympathetic for them if the shit hits the fan.

This does not mean I want anything awful to happen, nor would I be against intervention if it does. Erdogan, for the time being, is probably realizing the media outwith Turkey doesn't spin things the way he wants them to, and I haven't heard much re: Duerte beyond him being mad conservative.

I don't know much about the Turkey situation, but just in general...  Holding people blameless for their choices is utterly disrespectful.  Basically means they need a nice foreign power to make choices for them.  AKA, colonialism/imperialism for countries (applies to individuals too though).

Doesn't mean we have to pretend to agree with what they're doing to themselves.  Also, if a lot of people there don't agree with the choices, that might be oppression.  Oppressed people aren't to blame for their oppressor's decisions.

*hugpats*

Uhh, warranty?
Nope. Which is always nice. I dont think I was even given the choice for one that had a useful length. Ahwell.

Interestingly enough, I cant even turn it off, as to do so requires holding the power button then tapping the "power off" option on the screen. Well, perhaps I can get the screen replaced. I doubt it though.

-edit-
Nope, there was a warranty, I dont have the proof of purchase needed for it to count though.
-edit mk2-
And even if it did, the warranty doesent cover anything thats not a screwup on their end. Hurrah for warranties. Why do we get them again?

Nominally, at least.

Plus, people change. For the worse, sometimes, when in power.
