I guess my parents think I'm some perfect little robot child that can do every little thing they ask it to and not hear anything back

*snip*

I can't help but notice that you didn't seem to explain your thoughts to your parents and instead just said "ok", but I might have just misread your post and you might have your reasons.

ya no, i just say ok. Not like saying anything will help.
Give it a shot. It'll work better then not talking at all.

My usual approach to this problem was agreeing to do whatever they're asking, and then simply not doing it. It's not the best solution out there, but it sort of works. If you can live with your parents' eternal disappointment in you.

My voice is fairly gritty and monotonous, so it sometimes sounds like I'm angry even though I'm not. However, it only started doing this when I started having puberty stuff happening, so my parents would assume that I was having mood swings from hormones, or something like that. This made me legitimately angry, making the whole situation worse.

It's always good to let it out, though, even if it's just venting on here like you're doing. Just don't try to bottle up your emotions and ignore them like me.

*Offers hugs to Cryxis*

Went to therapist's yesterday.
Talked about how people walk over me, and expect me to do everything, and they never treat me with respect. Talked about how I need to stand up for myself and all that.
Sigh.
Also got appointment with psychologist to get me back on medications.
Woo.

I'm kind of the same on voice control as well. I have a rather deep ish voice with a fairly monotone sound... Unless I'm annoyed at something or immersed in something. Then I get more emotion in my voice.

Of course, I have problems avoiding a raised tone when I'm annoyed or angry, but that's another story.

Was going to put this in the rage thread, but I think it fits better here. This just makes my heart drop. Having a 5 year old, any news story regarding kids and not good stuff tends to make me sad. Gotta stop reading the news.

People should have to be licensed to be parents, it's as much a job as being a doctor or a lawyer is. Background checks should happen and living conditions should be checked yearly.

tell me more about implementation

are you going to inspect people's homes randomly to make sure they're not hiding children in their basements
