* Descan fires the orbital luck-cannon onto Hans

You ever wonder where rainbows come from? It's not refraction, it's a gay viking in a satellite firing luckbeams at people.

*Whispers to bystander*

When he's not firing the death cannon, that is.

Where do you think volcanoes come from? Not to mention earthquakes and tsunamis.

Unfortunately I ran out of anything but carebears for fuel, so it's basically nothing but luck-beams and rainbows from here on out. :/

Off-topic, but I'd love to see this exchange happen in some sort of work of fiction. Maybe one day we could have a decent Dungeons and Dragons movie (I mean, we've finally gotten good comic book movies lately, so it's within the realm of possibility), and just before they head into the dungeon, a newbie adventurer gets this talk from a monk veteran.

And when the veteran eventually has to hold off a horde of monsters so everyone else can get to safety (because he's a more powerful mentor figure, so he either has to leave on his own accord or die so that the main character can learn to be his own man), he'd say to the newbie something like, "I'm buying you a bit more time on the Mortal Plane. It may just be a few seconds or it may be decades, but, either way, make each second count."

And then he proceeds to kick so much ass. The monsters surround him, and the last shot you see of him is him still fighting them all.
And then later he turns out to have been a lich the whole time.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

If a monk's fists count as a weapon for the purposes of enchantment, can they be his phylactery?

And would that diminish or improve his unarmed combat?

Naw, after the big bad is dead they come back to pay their respects and the monk is STILL THERE, STILL KICKING ASS.

Nah, the heroes are fighting the Big Bad Evil Guy, and when all hope seems lost the monk reappears, bloody and wounded but leaving a trail of dead monster in his wake. The monk provides the right amount of support for the heroes to win, then dies afterwards.

Hmm. Paranoia sounds almost just as bad as Restless Legs Syndrome coupled with Sleep Apnea.
Except you can't make a roleplaying game out of my condition, and I bet yours goes away some nights.

Still, I empathize with your loss of sleep over a pointless event of your brain going "fuck you, body, I think we'll keep going", and offer hugs.
