But it does apply to everyone. At some point you just don't care about anyone who isn't your wife/husband and your children/relative.

I denounce that statement fully.
It does NOT apply to everyone (or, well, ok: probably everyone you see at the moment. In which I expound on my statement and say "It doesn't apply to people as a fact. Widen your viewpoint and re-challenge that.")

People bloody care, and I fully fail to see how that applies at all.
Or perhaps your environment is such :/ because if so...then wow. I am sad to see that...

Edit: I'm curious though. What makes you say those things as if they were facts? And where does that 'some point' happen?

... yeah, that generalization is just quite patently untrue. I've met... a lot of people that continued to give a damn about folks outside their immediate friends/family right up until the day they died.

Doesn't work that way.

And I'll assume those people lived in one place without going anywhere for the rest of their life?

Why do you assume such and how is that connected? :v
I've seen tons of people that aren't up to what you say back there, Objective.
Also you've a pending question back there :P

You realize you're 15 right Objective?

Look you probably mean well, but you're not going to know utter shit about people at 15. You likely barely understand yourself. Hell you have a full decade left till your brain is done setting up.

No? I mean, some of them, sure, but not all. Unless you mean after they died, then... I guess? I've known some pretty spry 80+ year olds, still roaming around the country (and sometimes out of it) doing their thing. Right up until they keeled over.

And even some of the ones that were locked into a single area because of physical infirmity or whathaveyou still did the whole charity et al thing, and kept in contact with folks outside family and whatnot. Had a circle of concern considerably larger than one town/local area and immediate family.

Personally, I've moved around the country a little bit, and even when I was touring the east coast and getting my brains knocked out semi-professionally, I never forgot my family and friends. I even checked up on them from time to time. You know, because they're my family and friends. People leave an indelible mark on you, good or bad, but permanent nonetheless.

Funny, I've lost contact with exactly twelve people who said something like that to me.

On the other hand, no one's saying that that sort of thing never happens.
It's a damn shame when it does, but there's not a lot to be done for it other than protect those bonds and reconnect when you're able and willing.
It's kind of ridiculous to say that you eventually stop caring about literally everyone who isn't your direct family or significant other.

Give it time. I've lost contact with hundreds of people, many of them willingly. Then again, I'm twice your age. Many of the relationships you build in your youth just don't stick, because you a) haven't developed concrete social skills, b) don't have a developed worldview (I thought Nihilism was something new and exciting at age 15,) and c) aren't really to the point of developing relationships outside of places you don't care to be (like school, or whatever functions your parents make you go to.)
