Well, shit.

Vector, you're safe talking to me if there's something you feel like you need to just say to anybody. And, of course, I'm not the only one. Whatever you need or want.

New Guy, you may never read this, but good luck.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

So, I was raped a little bit over a year ago.

Man, this thread is really living up to it's name today. I'm so sorry you went through that. It can be tough to recover from. Talking about it can be a good step. Best wishes to ye.

Really wish I could offer more than a simple 'Hope everything goes well' thing, but most things I'd have said have already been said.

Well that sucks.<==Understatement of the year. You have the sympathies of some dude you only know over the internet, if that counts for anything.

Just keep calm and keep vectoring on, Vector.

Thanks.  I don't think I'm up to talking much right now, but I intend to contact some of you soon.  Thank you for the support.

I was gonna go with "Things that gave you existential horror today" thread.

Rape and the erasure of ones life (I'm assuming that's what New Guy is talking about, having to go elsewhere and abandon his life as it is) is up there with severe neurodegeneration and death in all it's lovely forms for me. All lumped together in a big pile of slipping sanity and the contemplation of hermitage.

... Well.

I was initially going to post some nonsense about feeling nostalgically sad at reading posts from some of the old friends from here. I found my shades post, so that's nice.
I also read through WD's goodbye once again, a ritual I seem to undertake about once every half a year, and Duke's been missing since Feb.

But rather than 'things that made you depressed today', I'm considering it 'things that gave you perspective today'.

Vector, you can obviously tell that everyone here is willing to go through fire in order to help you through this, or empower you against it.
Rape is a word so deeply rooted in the stigma of fear and hate that even I felt an unconscious urge not to type it. But the more we hide it and tuck it away, the more ugly it gets.
Like Morley, someone dear to me went through a similar ordeal, and only after hearing about it was I fully aware of the implications.

I'm not writing this to bring up any sore memories, but to let you know that whilst I may never know what damage has been caused, physically or mentally, I along with everyone else here (Edit: Aside from one random individual) am on your side. I sincerely hope that the sympathy, empathy and understanding reciprocated back hits you deep in your heart, like a big metaphorical platonic unconditional bullet.
... That was not perfect imagery.

Nevertheless- like all of the others, I'm here to talk if you wish. Whilst I'm universally terrible with tact, the least I can give is sympathy and knowledge.

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

If you ever see me driving around, feel free to vent or something in person. I hear that sometimes helps, and while I'm terribad on the advice front I can be a good listener/punching bag...

I find if you deal with everything with the same level of flippancy and light-heartedness, then you can't go wrong.

Also everyone will avoid you.

it has begun snowing.

was fun actually walking anywhere see you next year gu-

yeah, if i were able to do that this post would be in the happy thread. in spite of living in an area where snow is encountered every year i still have not developed the skill of walking through snow without having one's thighs expending around three times more effort than without snow being present which should be pretty basic one that you learn on the fly but hey.

let's just hope it melts before i get out of here or something.
