I came here because I'm feeling hurt, not because I'm lacking in critical thinking skills =/  If I come out, it will be on my terms.

She's never going to understand it, though, so there's kind of no point in doing so.  I don't say that flippantly.  I really think there's pretty much a 0% likelihood that she'll be in the least receptive.

I've seen how you react to bigoted people on here. Why does your mother get such a free pass?

I also usually don't tell the bigoted people what my particular gender and sexual identity are.  Mom gets argued with vehemently, but I'm not about to let her think that I only care because I'm one of THEM.  I don't want her to try to argue me out of it because she sees me as making a BAD CHOICE SHE'S GOT TO SAVE ME FROM, and I don't want her to talk behind my back to the other relatives about how ASHAMED she is.  I'd like, frankly, to just go about my business, which is what I've been doing.

This is reasonable. I offer e-hugs and empathy, for there is little else to be done.

Also, this day. Why's it going so fast. I still have too much shit to do!

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

I'm just sitting here. Wearing stupid mask and dapper hat. Waiting for trick-or-treaters who won't be coming. Why?

Because it's pouring rain outside. But I'm still stuck here. By the door. Wearing stupid mask and dapper hat.

E: Stupid mask is tight, too. I've red marks all over my face from the damned thing.

Yeah, I went out after work, bought about $30 of candy, since I'm new to the area and have no idea how many kids will show up... And there is absolutely no one. I'm not sure whether it's because trick-or-treating is set for another night or just that I'm in a boring apartment complex consisting primarily of college students and older...

Good luck Vector. Hope your mom turns out to be cooler with it than you describe :/

We prepared for Ha-ha-Halloween here in Melbourne. Ended up no-one appeared (Pff, didn't see that coming ::)) so now I get to eat my way through a bag of fun-sized KitKats. Their lose, my gain!

I have not seen anyone going guising in about 10-11 years. A child who wanted to guise my house would have to walk half a mile across a dirt track in the cold and damp. If they got to the house, all I'd be able to give them are some dried pumpkin seeds and salt.

Because attractive young woman?
Of course though, you're not obligated to flirt. There's no point if you're not going to enjoy it.

I think. Honestly, I'm still fuzzy on the concept of flirting.

I wish I had his crossbow, I really do. Unfortunately I just have his clock. He actually made it himself which is nice but still, I can't kill any English people with it. What use is that?

To make matters worse, he was English himself. Though I keep that under wraps.

I's a shame that kids of this generation will never experience a proper Halloween. Between the ridiculous curfews keeping you from staying out late (even going so far as to change DST so that you set the clocks back after Halloween), so kids aren't even out when it's even remotely dark), arbitrary restrictions on anything sweet, overprotection against strangers of any sort,  and a general taboo against anything remotely scary or offensive, they might as well just cancel Halloween all together.

Well usually, if you don't want to do something, you don't do it. Especially in the case of there being no other possible gain for you other the direct personal pleasure; if you don't actually get that pleasure, no point.

Also, right now as in the moment you were typing, or a few minutes ago?

I sorta have to laugh at this, as since I live in a apartment, it is therefore highly reasonable to let the kids go where they may, and I just went out there escorting my little sister as a scarred, demented Joker.
