Whereas I don't want much of anything...

I've sort of been stuck in an awkward place in life where I'm not really being pulled forward towards somewhere by life, but more motivated by a desire not to stay where I am... Which isn't a great motivator.

Some of you may remember my friend who was sexually assaulted as a child, well it got worse.

She found out she had been repressing a memory of her father also sexually assaulted her as a child, he was one of the few people she trusted, think that's the worst part READ -Censored for anger- ON!

she wasn't at school last week, she came back today and revealed she was at hospital, at lunchtime she told me she had tried to overdose on pills, and worse than that she was going to make sure she used stronger pills next time.

I want to help but I know i can't these are things she has to figure out for herself but, I just feel so useless. No one should have to deal with what she's lived through.

So, I discovered something rather important today: namely, that all else being equal (ie without any major sources of outside stress), most of my depression is triggered by the weather. This sounds extreme, because my depression can get pretty bad, but I think it's the case: I was inside all yesterday because I was skipping school (didn't feel like dealing with the bullshit), so I got very little sunlight. When I was in school this morning, I felt absolutely wretched. Didn't feel like eating lunch and took an hour's doze in the sun, and lo and behold, I felt much, much better. More trials will be needed, of course, but this seems important. (There's also a surefire way to make my depression worse, when I want it, as I [alas] sometimes do: write a love letter. That'll put my chest in a blender pretty damn quick).

Damn my Norwegian genes.

That suggests that your depression may be caused (or at least affected) by a Vitamin D (which the body produces in response to sun exposure) deficiency. It's quite common, so consulting a doctor or nutritionist may be a worthwhile move.

Slight transliteration derail:

Wouldn't "Ανδ τηεν τηερε ωερε νονε" be better fit by "Ανδ θεν θερε ωερε νονε"?

"Ahnd tehen tehere ohere non" vs "Ahnd then there ohere non"? Though it's not the same sound as English would allow for, it's a little closer? I don't know, I always seem confused by greek-to-english transliteration anyway.

Ray Harryhausen is dead.  One of the most respected artists of the 20th Century.

I now see that this has already been noted :P     Still a sad for me today.
