I have fucked up my computer in a very specific way. The keyboard doesn't work, but only when i use a graphical interface. Console is fine. No idea where to begin fixing it. Have been looking for excuse to try new distro, I guess. This post took too long to click.

“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Love sickness... je suis en mal d'amour.

Guess I've just got to wait it out until it goes away.

*sigh*

This is stupid.

What is this human emotion called love?  Is it any different from that other one you told me about last week, called friendship?

... Illogical, captain.  Very illogical.

True, I can't argue with that. It's just that if it's stupid, I spend way too much time being stupid. Which, I suppose, is pretty likely actually.

Also, I'm a captain now? Yessssss. I can finally utter the words, "Ramming speed!"

I'm a dessert pastry, not a philosopher, Jim!  How should I know if we're stupid or not.

Testing. Rigorous scientific testing. Try not to ponder the problem of designing a test to determine whether you have the qualifications to write that very test.

I'm not really sure what love is, I'm thinking it's a very nebulous word that encompasses many different kinds of "Holy shit this person/thing is awesome to experience" and so muddles up the communication, particularly since very few of them are mutually exclusive, if any. Crushes, though, probably more able to be discussed with clarity.

And I think it was a platonic french-style affection peck.

Although it has been a while since I've seen those movies.
