Spoiler (click to show/hide)

This was posted circa 50 pages ago, but I had to reply, as I felt this had a profound therapeutic effect on me.

I was in the same situation some six months ago, but I worked on an "office" that consisted of a freaking garage with a radio playing crappy music in the background to conceal the voice of the supervisor who gave us advice on unethical business practices and regularly screamed at us for not making enough sales. Despite the different environment, i felt exactly the same as Aqizzar described...
I say I worked there, but actually I was fired on the third day and never actually got a paycheck. I couldn't hold myself long enough to leave the room with my eyes dry, and was openly crying and moaning the entire walk back home; it had been an horrible experience, but I desperately needed the job.
I'm not an introverted person, usually not shy at all! I'm pretty popular and have an active social life: I host weekly dinner parties where I cook for groups of ten to twenty friends who help me pay my groceries, I would easily approach girls and guys I had romantic interest in before I met the person I'm with, and I presently subsist by posing naked for former classmates in the university of fine arts I dropped, but that whole telemarketing experience was just so humiliating and demeaning I never managed to get over it.

Reading that Aqizzar was coping with a similar experience, and the lucid way in which he described and managed to explain how it felt helped me make sense of the horrible, chaotic experience I had myself, and I've managed to think about the subject without feeling overwhelmingly embarrassed and depressed.

So, there, that made me sad one day a few months ago, and was still a thorn on my backside today. Thanks, Aqizzar, you're awesome. I don't know if you're still in the same situation, but if you are, you have my sympathy, and my sincere hope that everything turns out for the best.

In his own words, "There is no U." Back to your post, very poignant stuff, and I'm very sad you had to go through that.

Start RAEG fade to bleakness of existence, here I thought all this emo bullshit was behind me, away we go:

I hate driving the speed limit. I have to, because if I get a ticket, for anything, before November 30 my Continuing work and education license goes away. Plus for a year after that, I'm on probation, meaning one moving violation yanks my license and might prevent me from getting the permit. I am restless behind the wheel going below 75. About 80, my thoughts clear, there is a kind of peace knowing that if anything happens, you won't have to go around doing things only to get a piece of paper that says you can get another piece of paper that will make someone slightly more likely to hire you than the person who only has the first. Then you get hired and you can work in an office the rest of your god-forsaken life. The end, satisfactory service, would live again.

That is a terrible philosophy.  I just drive fast because I hate being around other drivers.  And I'm horribly impatient.  And I enjoy the feeling of blowing past other cars to the sound of my engine humming.

As a matter of fact, I decided on the third day that I'd rather be poor.  I'd rather go back to the hideous, soul crushing process of looking for a job than work at that one.  I am actually a hundred dollars out for the home phone and connection, but I can live with that.

My decision was helped by going to a job fair that same day.  It wasn't really any less demoralizing, since it was clearly aimed at drumming up part-time labor from college students, but one place responded within one day, that has a serious possibility of a management position.

And hey, I'm glad I could help.  I figured it was a common feeling that needed putting into words.  Even if not, it's what I went through, and I thought somebody might have something to say.

Those both play a part as well.

My favorite speed is when the engine is at its highest volume but I can't hear it over the wind in my ears.

I'm stressed.  My friend is stressed.  She needs help.  I don't need help, because my general how-I-roll plan doesn't permit histrionics or the amount of caffeine ingestion it'd take to trigger a 4-hour screaming panic attack.  Or the sleep deprivation.  Or the rest of the way she eats and lives.

*shrug*

She's an adult.  She can fuck herself over if she wants.

I drive fast because I'm going somewhere... the fact that I'm going there indicates I want to be there... not driving... certainly not at 10 under the speed limit  >:(

Lost my flash drive. Hope it turns up. Honestly, that one drive is potentially more valuable than the rest of the contents of my room.

I know I should back these things, and it is such a bad habit not to, and it is the first thing I am going to do once I find the damn thing, but god help me I need that drive!!!

So this.  You're on the road because you're trying to go somewhere.  I often have this feeling that I am the only person on the road who's trying to reach a specific destination.  I wonder, where are all these other cars going, because they are clearly not trying very hard to get there.

I prefer riding my twelve-speed bike. Gets me fit and the speed is waaay better.

The fit I'll give you, but regarding speed my T-Bird and its 4.6 litres of whoopass would beg to differ.

Argfg, i meant to say 'feeling of speed'. Going 60km/h on a bike > going 60km/h in a car.
